HOURS

PT – This position works 7 hour days, four days a week (28 hours)

NATURE OF WORK

Under the general supervision of the Motor Vehicle Licensing Supervisor, performs a wide variety of customer service and clerical work of above average difficulty and performs related work as required for the Licensing Division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provides excellent customer service for Motor Vehicle Licensing department by greeting guests in a professional, courteous and friendly manner, and by maintaining visibility and always being tactful and polite. 
  • Processes a variety of transactions related to Motor Vehicle Licensing, Passport Acceptance Services, and Department of Natural Resources (DNR) licenses and registrations in accordance with federal, state and local laws, regulations and procedures.
  • Accurately enters, reviews and processes transactions using the Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services (MNDRIVE) system while ensuring compliance with applicable policies and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Interprets and applies applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures to ensure transactions are processed correctly and efficiently.
  • Responds to customer inquiries by providing accurate information and assistance in person, by telephone, and through other communication methods.
  • Serves as relief receptionist/information desk staff by welcoming visitors, directing customers to appropriate services, answering general inquiries, and supporting front counter operations.
  • Maintains the confidentiality and security of customer information in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and City policies
  • Collaborates with team members to ensure efficient operations and consistently high level of customer service.

  • Ability to accurately process Motor Vehicle, Passport, and DNR transaction in compliance with federal, state and local government.

  • Must be a United States citizen and successfully obtain and maintain Passport Acceptance Agent certification as required by the U.S. Department of State.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a High School Diploma or General Education Development Certificate (GED).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One (1) year or more of experience processing transactions using the Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Service (MNDRIVE) system.
  • Three (3) or more years of customer service experience preferably in a high-volume public service, government, financial, or retail environment.
  • Current Passport Acceptance Agent Cortication or the ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
  • Experience handling cash, balancing daily transactions, and maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with established policies and procedures.

The physical demands that are described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Must have the ability to:

  • Ability to sit, stand, talk, and listen for extended periods.  Ability to bend, stoop, reach, manipulate doors, drawers and locks.
  • Must have fine motor skills to manipulate fingers for extended use of a keyboard
  • Occasionally life and/or move up to 15 pounds.
