Key Responsibilities
Fabrication & Construction
Construct flats, platforms, step units, custom furniture, and rigged scenic elements using wood, metal, plastic, and hardware.
Interpret and work accurately from architectural draftings, construction drawings, scale ground plans, and cut lists provided by the Technical Director.
Operate and maintain standard scene shop machinery, including table saws, miter saws, band saws, routers, pneumatic tools, and hand tools.
Execute basic metal fabrication and MIG welding as required for structural steel frames.
Load-In, Rigging & Installation
Participate in the transport, assembly, and installation of set structures on stage during load-in weeks.
Assist with the integration and rigging of flying scenic elements, tracking systems, and automated stage machinery.
Conduct structural safety checks and make real-time adjustments during technical rehearsals.
Maintenance & Strike
Perform routine repairs, touch-ups, and structural maintenance on scenic elements throughout the performance run.
Execute the safe strike (dismantling) of sets post-production, sorting materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free scene shop and stage area.
