Medical Assistant
Southern Michigan Pain Consultants (SMPC)
Position Summary
In this role, you’ll provide hands-on clinical and administrative support, help keep daily workflows running smoothly, and ensure every patient experience is efficient, compassionate, and positive. If you’re energized by patient interaction, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to be part of building a practice the right way from the start, this is an exciting opportunity for you.
Who We Are
Southern Michigan Pain is dedicated to delivering thoughtful, comprehensive care for patients living with acute and chronic pain. We believe pain should be treated as the serious, ongoing condition it is—with expertise, empathy, and a team-based approach focused on restoring function and quality of life.
As a practice, culture matters deeply to us. We have created an environment built on collaboration, accountability, and respect, where every team member plays an essential role. Your professionalism, reliability, and commitment to patient care will help define who we are and how we serve our community.
What You’ll Be Doing
Deliver Exceptional Patient Care
You’ll provide safe, efficient, and compassionate care by collecting assessment data, supporting patients’ physical and emotional needs, and assisting with patient education. Working under RN supervision, you’ll maintain professionalism during routine visits and unexpected situations alike, while ensuring accurate documentation and recordkeeping.
Collaborate and Communicate
You’ll work closely with nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to support coordinated, patient-centered care and ensure smooth clinic operations throughout the day.
Stay Organized and Tech-Savvy
You’ll use our EMR and other software systems to keep patient records accurate, organized, and up to date, helping the team stay efficient, compliant, and focused on patient care.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
Recent, relevant experience in a medical office setting
-
CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
-
Completion of a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or Medical Secretary program is strongly preferred
You’re comfortable using EMR systems, Microsoft Office, and basic office technology. You communicate clearly, manage your time well, and remain calm under pressure. You can juggle multiple priorities, work independently when needed, and collaborate effectively as part of a team. Above all, you bring a patient-first mindset and a strong sense of accountability to your work.
