The Senior Director plays a critical role in integrating pillar priorities, promoting ACS programs and services, leading and developing teams, and providing operational oversight for a team of specialized Associate Directors. This position drives measurable improvements in cancer outcomes by cultivating partnerships with NCI-designated Cancer Centers, Integrated Delivery Systems, Commission on Cancer-accredited programs, Veterans’ health systems, and Safety Net Hospitals. As a strategic leader, the Senior Director ensures alignment with ACS priorities, fosters collaboration, and aligns efforts with national goals to deliver coordinated, patient-centered cancer care. Success in this role is defined by the ability to build and sustain executive-level relationships, mobilize partners, and connect local efforts with national strategies to achieve measurable outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide leadership and engage stakeholders across health systems –including NCI-designated Cancer Centers, Integrated Delivery Systems, Commission on Cancer-accredited programs, Veterans’ Health Systems, and Safety Net Hospitals – to strengthen collaboration and accelerate impact across the cancer care continuum. 30%
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams by coaching and mentoring leaders, setting clear objectives, managing performance in an inclusive, results-driven culture. 20%
  • Drive strategic integration of pillar priorities through strategic account management and resource alignment. 20%
  • Ensure operational excellence by managing budgets, allocating resources, and ensuring compliance while supporting change management and organizational priorities. 15%
  • Deliver cross pillar collaboration across the enterprise (ACS CAN, Development, Discovery, etc.) to engage partners, volunteers, and communities in ACS priority initiatives. 15%

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s degree in public health, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare, or Nonprofit Management (graduate degree preferred).
  • Years of Experience: Over six years of progressive responsibility in healthcare-related management, administration, and account management. Proven track record of building and maintaining high-level relationships with healthcare executives and key stakeholders.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships with health systems, payers, community organizations, and diverse populations to advance key initiatives and improve health outcomes.
  • Proficient in representing the organization to hospitals, health systems, community leaders, and other stakeholders to promote public health priorities.
  • Strong written, oral, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with senior leaders and external partners.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and developing high-performing teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
  • Skilled in operational and strategic planning, including market analysis and data-informed decision-making to support organizational objectives.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and lead teams through organizational transitions, ensuring alignment with evolving goals.
  • Experience in designing and implementing community-based programs that deliver measurable outcomes and support mission objectives.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across departments and functions, driving alignment and timely execution of initiatives.
  • Comfortable working within a matrixed organization, balancing regional priorities with enterprise strategies.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
