Manager Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) Risk Assessments

The Financial Crime Compliance team (FCC) is a combined Risk function designed to support, build and enhance sustainable and effective financial crime capability and operations within the Bank, to ensure compliance and effective risk management.
The FCC Risk Assessments team is a group of risk professionals responsible for undertaking complex compliance risk assessments across a broad range of initiatives, issues, incidents and change activities. The team provides independent risk insights, identifies systemic themes and emerging risks, and partners with Line 1 and Line 2 stakeholders to support effective risk management and decision making.
Do work that matters:
The Manager is responsible for leading complex compliance risk assessments across designated support unit portfolios. The role provides independent assessment and strategic risk insights to inform senior management and governance committees on materiality, root causes, emerging risks and remediation priorities.
Additionally, this role will provide support in ensuring all policy and related documentation concerning the assessment methodology meets relevant Australian, CBA and regulatory standards and expectations.
On any given day, you will:
Lead the review and challenge of Issues and Incidents to ensure compliance with Group Standards, Procedures and regulatory expectations.
Analyse complex risk matters and provide recommendations to support Line 2 review, challenge and approval decisions.
Partner with Support Units to provide guidance and constructive challenge on Issue and Incident Management.
Contribute to the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of FCC standard operating procedures, templates and risk assessment methodologies.
Support risk assessments relating to projects, change initiatives and significant risk events requiring assessment team engagement.
Provide risk assessment expertise to support business and technology-enabled change initiatives, ensuring compliance risks are appropriately identified and managed.
Identify opportunities to improve assessment processes through automation, AI-enabled tools and data-driven insights.
Drive continuous improvement of assessment methodologies, reporting and team productivity through innovation and process optimisation.
Develop reporting and deliver meaningful insights to inform management committees and support effective risk-based decision making.
Build trusted partnerships with stakeholders across Financial Crime, Technology and Support Units to influence effective risk outcomes.
We are interested in hearing from people who have
Strong understanding of compliance and operational risk management within a regulated environment.
Experience in Financial Crime Compliance (AML/CTF, Sanctions, ABC) is highly regarded.
Previous experience in a similar Risk Management and Compliance role is required
Experience partnering with technology, operations or transformation teams
Excellent stakeholder management skills with proven experience to influence senior stakeholders
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Experience in report writing and executive level briefing papers
Relevant industry accreditation or certificate is desirable (AFMA, ACAMs, etc)
