Job Title: Community Mental Health Counselor (Clinical Psychologist / LCSW)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, independently licensed Community Mental Health Counselor to join our health and wellness team. In this role, you will perform comprehensive initial mental health assessments, establish individualized treatment plans, manage chronic mental health conditions, and provide compassionate counseling to support student/client health and personal development.
Working in close collaboration with on-site medical staff, substance abuse counselors, and wellness managers, you will play a central role in interdisciplinary care planning, disability accommodation reviews, and long-term wellness education.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Assessment & Documentation:
- Intake & Diagnosis: Conduct prompt, thorough reviews of incoming applicant files, perform comprehensive mental health intake assessments, and provide accurate diagnostic evaluations.
- Treatment Planning: Formulate, implement, and maintain individualized mental health treatment and management plans.
- EHR Documentation: Maintain complete, timely, and compliant health records detailing diagnoses, ongoing therapy notes, medication tracking, and program suitability recommendations.
Interdisciplinary Care & Collaboration:
- Co-Occurring Care: Collaborate directly with Substance Abuse Counselors to deliver integrated care for clients with dual mental health and substance use conditions.
- Medication Coordination: Partner with center physicians and Health & Wellness Managers to coordinate long-term medication monitoring and Schedule II prescription management strategies.
- Chronic Condition Management: Develop and participate in chronic care management plans for individuals with ongoing mental health conditions or disability-related needs.
Consultation & Education:
- Accommodation Committees: Participate in Reasonable Accommodation Committee (RAC) meetings and multi-disciplinary file review teams during scheduled hours.
- Health Education: Empower clients to build essential life skills, coping strategies, and health literacy around personal wellness and mental healthcare.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications:
Licensure & Credentials:
- Primary Track: Active, unrestricted independent license as a Clinical Psychologist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) [Required].
- Alternate Licensure Track: Candidates with active, unrestricted independent licenses in other recognized counseling disciplines (e.g., LMFT, LPC) who are state-qualified to provide independent mental health therapy [May Be Considered].
- Practice Status: Must hold independent clinical practice authority within the state of service delivery [Required].
Core Competencies:
- Expertise in mental health intake assessments, DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, and evidence-based psychotherapy techniques.
- Strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills working alongside medical doctors, substance use specialists, and administrative teams.
- Exceptional clinical documentation accuracy, compliance awareness, and client advocacy skills.
