Job Description:

Department Overview:

The Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) department of TD Bank is responsible for measurement and management of interest rate risk for the domestic and foreign subsidiary retail bank product portfolios, transfer pricing those portfolios and reporting margins and Net Interest Income (NII). 

The Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) Measurement team within TBSM supports the Margin Measurement and Management functions for CAD P&C and US P&C. Utilizing product, securities and derivatives valuation techniques, team members develop and implement transfer pricing methodologies and NII forecasting processes.  Team members support the design of new products, portfolio profitability analysis, and pricing decisions.

Overview of Responsibilities

The Manager, FTP Measurement will transfer price all of the bank’s Canadian and US products according to the established transfer pricing framework.  Furthermore, the Manager will analyze and forecast the Net Interest Margins (NIM) and NII of these products as well as develop these functions’ underlying infrastructure. In particular, the Manager will be responsible for leading change and establishing processes into the FTP infrastructure in accordance with the FTP framework.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Execute FTP Reporting and Analytics to help senior management with forecasting, attribution, funding-cost analysis, and margin performance
  • Create efficient, concise and informative power point presentation slides for senior management interactions with regulators, auditors, risk and senior LOB stakeholders.
  • Execute necessary groundwork pertaining to data for new product initiatives and pricing strategies
  • Contribute effectively to resolve anomalies in Fund Transfer Pricing and balance sheet economics. 
  • Deliver against projects timeline assigned by management
  • Deliver against ad-hoc requests as they relate to FTP measurement
  • Co-ordinate the implementation of new products, new/revised frameworks, system enhancements and other initiatives with internal key stakeholders.
  • Ensure that projects and system improvements are implemented in accordance with established and approved procedures and standards
  • Maintaining project related documentation and ensuring processes are complete and comply with established procedures and standards
  • Display a thorough operational understanding of TBSM systems (eg: Canoe, Tableau) including change management process
  • Provide updates and ensure all escalations are communicated in a timely manner
  • Support the team through various cross training initiatives
  • Validate FTP results and ensure they are correctly measured, aggregated, reported, in accordance with established and approved FTP framework
  • Liaise closely with internal TBSM teams, Finance, Audit, Technology groups, and other stakeholders to assist in meeting the Bank’s objectives
  • Foster and maintain effective working relationships with business partners
  • Understand and comply with TD Policies, regulatory and compliance requirements

Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations:

  • Post-secondary degree in Finance, Math, Business, or Economics

Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

Experience with:

  • Analyzing data to identify reasons for variances in results and to identify forecasting anomalies
  • Gathering & analyzing business requirements and explaining requirements to system developers
  • Using computer tools for data retrieval and analysis, in particular SQL, Excel

Familiarity with:

  • The features and characteristics of retail banking products
  • Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) concepts and their application to retail Mortgage, Loan and Deposit products
  • Knowledge of Capital Markets

  • Demonstrated strong analytical capabilities

  • Ability to take initiative and balance multiple tasks
  • Be able to work independently with tight timelines
  • MBA, CFA, CA, and/or CMA considered assets

Work activities include a blend of highly collaborative activities and individual deliverables. Individuals are expected to be onsite 4 days a week. Colleagues may spend more or less days in office as required by the business line.
