Adult Art Instructor – Painting
Pay: $32.23 per hour
 Part-Time Recurring (Year-Round)
 Up to 20 Hours per Week, Not Benefit Eligible

Are you a talented artist with a passion for teaching? 
 Join our collaborative and community-focused team as an Adult Painting Instructor at the Eagan Art House! 
 In this role, you will have the opportunity to engage teen and adult students of all skill levels in the creative process of painting. Painting curriculum includes acrylics, pastels, oil, and or multi-media. From planning and implementing curriculum to providing hands-on demonstrations, you will play a vital role in fostering artistic growth and expression. If you have a degree in art or art education, along with experience teaching visual arts to adults, we want to hear from you!

This position is open until filled.
  • Enthusiastically engage students in the process of art creation
  • Develop, plan and implement painting curriculum 
  • Demonstrate a knowledge painting techniques, materials, and processes
  • Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of artists, artwork styles and art history
  • Provide hands on demonstrations to students
  • Prepare materials for classes & workshops as needed
  • Listen to student needs and adapt curriculum development accordingly
  • Thoroughly clean up teaching space and supplies after each class
  • Work cooperatively with other Eagan Art House team members
  • Keep supervisor informed of concerns or issues related to classes
  • Degree or coursework leading to a degree in art or art education, or equivalent experience in teaching art
  • Two (2) years of experience developing age-appropriate curriculum for adults
  • Two (2) years of experience teaching visual arts to adults in a classroom or workshop setting
  • Available to teach evenings and weekends
  • Actively creates artwork independently
  • Experience teaching contemporary art to adults
  • Experience working within a municipal or non-profit environment
  • Ability to use various technologies to expand accessibility
 

Physical Requirements:

Sit, stand, talk, write, hear.  Occasionally required to lift/move up to 50 pounds.  Occasionally must climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, run, walk.   Adequate vision to perform the essential functions of the job.


Working Conditions:      

  • Mostly indoor work-setting; some outdoor settings for events
  • Variety of spaces that may require moving tables, chairs, and equipment
