Position Summary
Act as an expert in the heavy duty parts industry serving both internal and external customers. Spend majority of time exercising discretion as to the appropriate heavy duty parts for customers, suggesting sale of related parts for full service, and purchasing and/or obtaining heavy duty parts for customers. Adjust pricing of heavy duty parts when necessary. Lead the creation of best practices and collaboratively develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures. Service customers by phone or in person through sales of heavy duty parts in accordance with identified customer needs and availability of parts in order to make a profit for FleetPride. Train new employees on counter parts sales procedures, including travel to train new employees at other locations.
Essential Tasks
Exercise discretion and independent judgment in helping determine heavy duty parts for customers, suggesting sale of related parts for full service, and obtain heavy duty parts for customers as requested by phone or in person. Adjust pricing when necessary and appropriate using discretion, judgment and expertise and in accordance with company procedure. Able to bind company to particular sales and pricing. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures. Develop and share best practices as they relate to daily operating procedures and effective selling techniques. Continually develop knowledge of heavy duty parts and share this knowledge with other Counter Parts Sales Reps. Communicate with employees on a regular basis to ensure procedures are followed, new procedures and methods are considered and new approved methods or procedures are known and carried out on a timely basis. Travel to customer’s location in order to provide assistance with identification of parts. Prepare reports for the Branch Manager and Area Manager. Train counter parts sales representatives on the proper procedures, selling methods and company policies. Follow-up to ensure results are achieved and provide ongoing training. Travel to other sites to provide training and share expertise as required. Mentor and provide oversight to other employees including the authority to review employees’ performance and provide recommendations for disciplinary action, hiring and firing decisions. Appraise and document counter parts sales representatives’ performance at regular intervals as required by company procedures, ensuring a plan for improving employee performance and potential. Meet with each employee at least once a year to formally review their performance and discuss future performance objectives and goals. Enforce Company policies and procedures, abide by same. Review work throughout the work process and at completion, in order to ensure that it has been performed effectively. Assist in planning work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staffing levels, to ensure that activities are performed effectively, and to respond to fluctuating workloads. Oversee time keeping process for all counter parts sales staff. Manage customer complaints. Locate and obtain ordered part for customer from central warehouse or branch. Handle warranty or defective parts for customers in accordance with company procedure. Write up approved charge sale in accordance with company procedure Special order parts on an emergency basis when necessary and appropriate. Process approved credits for customer when merchandise is returned. Maintain confidentiality of pricing lists and structures as required by company procedure. Answer customers’ technical questions about products, prices, availability, and product features. Ensure all walk in customers are greeted immediately and an associate offers assistance within 2 minutes. Close out all invoices at the end of the day and deposit earnings. Utilize non-selling, non-servicing time by studying catalogs, reviewing price sheets, bulletins, changes, additions, and deletions. Ensure that counter parts area is clean and in order. Ensure that display areas encourage sales. Ensure that product catalogs are current and made available to customers. Discard old ones and replace with new ones. Responsible for the branch’s core daily operations in the absence of the branch manager.

Physical Demands
Handling of normal stock will include lifting or carrying parts in excess of 60 lbs. up to 15% of the time. Majority of lifting and carrying will involve parts between 5 and 60 lbs.

Equipment
OSHA approved protective toed safety shoes required from the first day of this job.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge level of Windows XP (excel, word and outlook)
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 4 years experience in sales; sales of heavy-duty automotive parts.
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one line of heavy duty automotive parts.
Certifications/Licenses
- Valid drivers’ license with clean driving record.
