About our Client

Our Client is a premier, independent upstream oil and gas consulting firm headquartered in Houston, Texas. They provide expert reservoir engineering, reserves evaluation, acquisition and divestiture (A&D) advisory, production analysis, and high-level technical consulting services to operators, institutional investors, and mineral owners throughout North America. Operating in a highly specialized, technical vertical, they assist stakeholders with reserve evaluations, economic forecasting, and thorough technical due diligence across numerous asset types and prolific basins.

The Role

Our Client is seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented Reservoir Engineering Technician to support their consulting engineers across a diverse portfolio of upstream projects. This is a high-impact, data-dense position where the successful candidate will manipulate large datasets to assist with the evaluation of oil and gas assets. Operating as the technical engine behind client deliverables, this professional will analyze production histories, compile completion statistics, clean technical datasets, and support robust economic cash flow modeling.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analytics & Production Forecasting

  • Prepares and structures raw production datasets, executing decline curve analysis (DCA) and type curve development to generate accurate production forecasts.

  • Compiles, normalizes, and validates comprehensive well history datasets, including historical production, completion configurations, and lease operating expenses (LOE).

  • Performs rigorous quality control (QC) and cross-system validation on raw engineering data to ensure the absolute integrity of downstream reports.

  • Researches regional basin activity, macroeconomic industry trends, and localized infrastructure constraints to benchmark asset performance.

Engineering Evaluation & Economic Support

  • Assists consulting reservoir engineers with annual reserve evaluations, audits, and formal reserve report compilation.

  • Supports acquisition and divestiture (A&D) evaluations and asset transactions by executing structured technical due diligence.

  • Assists with financial and economic evaluations, including discounted cash flow modeling, net revenue interest calculations, and payout assessments.

  • Builds, tracks, and maintains engineering models inside advanced petroleum analytics and database programs.

  • Generates clear, high-fidelity dashboards, interactive data charts, technical memorandums, and corporate client presentations.

Qualifications, Skills, and Key Competencies

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).

  • Quantitative Foundations: Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with full comfort auditing large technical datasets and structured databases.

  • Language & Communication: Elite written and verbal English communication skills, equipped to draft technical summaries and collaborate smoothly with US-based engineering consultants.

  • Self-Management: Highly organized with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, learn new software stacks quickly, and execute work independently in a remote layout.

  • Hardware & Infrastructure: Ownership of a reliable Windows 10 or 11 workstation with a minimum of 8 GB RAM (16 GB preferred), a backup computer (strongly preferred), a high-quality webcam/mic setup, and a stable, high-speed internet connection.

  • Domain Knowledge: Previous experience in the upstream oil and gas sector with familiarity in reservoir engineering mechanics, structural geology concepts, and petroleum reserves terminology (SEC/PRMS).

Benefits

  • Highly Specialized Market Exposure: Gain elite, multi-basin exposure to reservoir engineering, reserves estimation, and mid-market A&D evaluations across North American asset profiles.

  • Predictable Monthly Compensation: A stable monthly salary of $2,500 USD with scalable adjustments aligned directly with your technical qualification depth and software proficiencies.
