Location: Slinfold area (Workshop Based)

Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: £26,000 – £28,000 per annum

Job Purpose

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Laminator to join a busy production team. In this role, you will be responsible for undertaking hands-on production lamination tasks, focusing on the fabrication of plastic process vessels and composite components.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Lamination & Production:

• Hands-on Fabrication: Work productively as part of the lamination team to deliver high-quality outputs.

• Mould Preparation: Apply premium waxes to mould surfaces to facilitate the seamless assembly and removal of finished parts.

• Layering Application: Apply layers of plastic resin and fiberglass mats to mould surfaces sequentially until the specified thickness is achieved and materials have jelled.

• Material Mixing: Accurately mix raw ingredients—including resins, catalysts, fillers, accelerators, and colours—according to precise technical formulas (manually or using industrial mixers).

• Curing Operations: Set up and operate equipment to cure parts, ensuring materials set properly at room temperature or under specialized IR heaters.

• Cross-Functional Support: Assist colleagues across the floor and undertake other reasonable production support tasks as directed by workshop leadership.

Quality Control & Compliance:

• Pre-Production Verification: Thoroughly check all templates and cutout patterns against dimensional data, drawings, photographs, samples, or customer specifications before manufacturing.

• Inspection: Validate completed products using rulers, micrometers, visual checks, and acoustic tapping to catch structural defects, bubbles, or dead spots.

• Health & Safety: Assiduously follow method statements and risk assessments for all production tasks. Maintain a steadfast commitment to workplace safety policies and ensure all working documentation is valid and current.

Required Experience & Qualifications

Hard Skills:

• Experience: Minimum of 1 years of proven experience in plastic process vessel lamination.

• Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the appropriate standards and engineering codes applicable to plastic vessel lamination.

• Licences: Valid UK driving licence.

• Forklift Certification: Ability to operate forklift trucks is highly desirable.

• Safety Conscious: The confidence to stand firmly by health and safety rules without compromising under production pressures.
