About the role:
This role sits within Global Health Operations Excellence, maintaining bp’s global health risk profile and supervising effective management of the Group’s priority health risks. It provides authoritative health risk insights, reinforces governance through contributions to risk forums, maintains health requirements and coordinates health verification and health assurance processes.
By driving consistent operating discipline in health risk management, conformance and assurance processes, across Regions and Health Hubs, the role enables informed, risk-based decisions, supports safe, compliant, and efficient operations. Demonstrating risk-based data insights for health strategy and health priority development, the role advances bp’s operational field, performance quality, and value creation.
What you will deliver:
Lead the Global Health Risk profile, maintaining bp’s Global Health Risk Register, supervising emerging global health threats, periodic investigate reviews and providing risk insights to HSE&C and bp Risk teams.
Strengthen governance and decision-making by supplying clear health risk inputs to GORC, SORCs and other risk forums, health strategy development and risk-based programme prioritisation. Coordinate health inputs to bp risk taxonomy, risk definition and risk bowtie portfolios.
Support global management of priority health risks, including blue- purple and other group-critical risks, ensuring effective identification, barrier assessment and control development.
Embed consistent health risk management across the business by supporting Regions and Health Hubs with frameworks, ensuring integration into business risk registers.
Maintain clear, consistent bp health requirements and guidance, including health content in OMS and inputs to CoC and bp policies.
Drive conformance to OMS Health requirements by leading implementation of health-related OMS content and owning processes such as HMAT, Health and Self-Verification (SV).
Support OMS health data and insights to track conformance and highlight performance risks or improvement opportunities.
Support health inputs to S&ORA processes. Own and maintain health topic deep-dive frameworks.
Drive consistent OMS conformance, Assurance and SV processes in Regions and Health Hubs.
Support delivery of priority Global Health Operations projects across OMS Health, risk, assurance & Self Verification. Act as SME for designated Health topics.
Experience and Qualifications:
Global Health Risk Expertise: Relevant experience, including experience at Group level or across multiple business units, success in leading health risks in complex, global operations.
Deep Understanding of the Organisation: Confirmed knowledge of bp’s global and regional structure, its businesses, functions, commercial operations, and key partners, enabling effective influence and decision-making at senior levels.
Health Risk Management & OMS Expertise: Strong practical experience with health risk frameworks, OMS processes, assurance, risk registers, and risk bowtie development. Validated ability to embed consistent health risk management within businesses or health hubs.
Governance and Risk Insight Delivery: Track record of providing clear, data-driven health risk insights to senior governance forums (GORC, SORCs), supporting health strategy development, prioritisation, and risk-based decision-making.
Health Operating Discipline: Experience driving conformance to health requirements, including implementation and assurance of OMS Health content, HMAT, Self-Verification, and related health assurance processes.
Strategic Programme Delivery: Proven record to lead health projects, and deliver measurable improvements in operational discipline, risk mitigation, and compliance.
Analytical and Communication Skills: Strong health data interpretation, reporting, and risk communication skills, capable of translating sophisticated health risks into actionable insights for senior partners.
Professional certification in a related health discipline, with relevant licensure/registration desirable.
