Client Base:
Clients include housing providers and property managers operating heat networks, particularly within social housing. This includes housing associations, local authorities, and managing agents.
The Role
We’re looking for a Technical Consultant to join our growing Technical Team and play a leading role in delivering a range of specialist heat network services. This includes heat network optimisation projects, decarbonisation studies, asset reviews, acceptance testing, meter feasibility assessments, and other technical services that will continue to evolve alongside incoming heat network regulation.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining technical delivery, client engagement, and opportunities to help shape and expand our future service offering. You’ll work closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality technical support and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
The role involves travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays for site visits. We’ll always discuss travel requirements in advance to ensure they work with your personal circumstances.
We operate a flexible, hybrid working model. Many of our team members are based across the UK and work remotely, with all staff spending at least some of their time working from home.
Key Responsibilities
Site Visits & Technical Surveys
You will lead and support a range of site-based technical assessments across both new-build and existing heat networks, as well as buildings connecting to district heating schemes. Working in line with recognised industry standards such as CIBSE CP1, responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out:
- Heat network optimisation surveys
- Meter feasibility assessments
- Decarbonisation surveys
- Asset reviews
- Acceptance testing
- Liaising with client and contractor teams on site
- Engaging directly with residents and end customers where required, including home surveys
- Ensuring health and safety requirements are followed at all times
Technical Analysis & Reporting
- Delivering techno-economic analysis and client reporting
- Gathering, inputting, and analysing technical data
- Liaising with manufacturers and wider supply chain partners
Project & Client Management
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Attending online and in-person meetings
- Managing project schedules and timelines
- Producing high-quality reports and identifying opportunities to exceed client expectations
Business Development & Service Improvement
- Identifying opportunities to develop new or enhanced technical services
- Collaborating with Data and Consultancy teams to improve services and deliver added value to clients
- Supporting business development activities, including identifying potential clients, partners, and collaboration opportunities
- Representing Chirpy Heat at networking events and industry engagements
- Supporting proposal writing for technical services
- Contributing to website, blog, social media, and case study content
