The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. Our mission is to inspire and steward meaningful, lasting relationships that elevate engagement and giving to fulfill Emory’s mission to serve humanity. We are currently seeking an Associate Director of Advancement and Alumni Services.

Woodruff Health Sciences team is responsible for partnering with physicians, researchers, and faculty leaders to identify and engage potential supporters and building relationships with patients, friends, or others to support our work. This position will report to the Executive Director, Advancement and Alumni Services – Woodruff Health Sciences Center.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guides operational aspects for an advancement and alumni engagement program in a school or unit.
  • Develops plans and objectives to ensure success of the program, while working with other departments and colleagues.
  • Leverages relationships within the school or unit as well as central service units to build mutually beneficial relationships, improve communication and collaborative teamwork, and increase campus understanding of advancement and alumni engagement processes.
  • Writes/creates briefings, reports, letters, and other materials for the school/unit.
  • Manages multiple projects supporting the engagement or fundraising goals of the school/unit.
  • Makes decisions on how data should be collected and routed for updating reports in systems, and ensuring reporting is processed appropriately.
  • May provide administrative, event, or technical support.
  • May administer budgets.
  • May manage relationships and service agreements with outside vendors and internal customers.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

In addition to the duties outlined above, the Associate Director may be required to:

  • Assist in the development, facilitation, or management of fundraising efforts, and program objectives.
  • Generate and curate targeted lists of potential grateful patient prospects for fundraiser and clinician review using patient prospecting tools
  • Ensure strong data integrity by preventing duplicate prospect identification, review, or assignment across fundraising teams. 
  • Track fundraiser feedback and clinician-identified prospects and share that information with the Pipeline Development team to facilitate timely portfolio assignment of referred prospects. 
  • Continuously refine prospect list criteria and workflows based on feedback from fundraisers, clinicians, and Prospect Development team partners to streamline identification and tracking processes. 
  • Represent the department or serve as primary contact working with other departments across the division/University.
  • This position requires coming in person two days a week. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and three years of experience in an office setting, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful candidates will possess experience in project management, working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, database and project management software, and CRM systems.
  • Self-directed and can work autonomously to accomplish goals.
  • Highly organized and can manage projects to meet or surpass all project deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with ambiguity and navigate a complex work environment.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience managing projects, working independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals, with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Prior experience in advancement, fundraising, non-profit, medical settings and/or with healthcare terminology.
  • Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
