Truworths is looking for an experienced IT Developer (BI/DW) to join our Business Intelligence

team. This role is ideal for a proactive and solution-oriented individual with strong data

warehousing and BI development experience.

You will work closely with business users and technical teams to design, build, and support

scalable data solutions that deliver meaningful insights across the organisation. The role involves

developing and maintaining data warehouses, ETL processes, and reporting solutions that enable

multiple business units.

This position is based at the Truworths Head Office in Cape Town.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into scalable technical data solutions

• Apply a strong understanding of the data warehouse development life cycle

• Participate in architectural forums and contribute to BI standards within Truworths

• Design and develop data models (dimensional, relational, and multi-dimensional)

• Develop, enhance, and maintain ETL processes and data pipelines

• Implement data integration between legacy and modern systems

• Write and optimise PL/SQL code

• Support batch processing and scheduling environments

• Develop ad hoc scripts to facilitate reporting and user requirements

• Engage with users to gather and confirm business requirements

• Produce and maintain agile documentation

• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and team collaboration

• Provide daily technical, functional, and operational support for existing BI solutions

• Contribute to the evolution of Truworths’ data architecture towards modern platforms

(on-premise and/or cloud)

 

Qualifications and Experience

• BSc or BCom in Information Systems or IT / IS diploma (advantageous) or relevant

industry experience

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a data warehousing and/or ETL environment

• Strong experience in data modelling and reporting

• Experience with batch processing and scheduling

• Experience working with business users to define requirements and deliver technical

solutions

• Retail systems experience will be advantageous

• Ability to document technical specifications from business requirements
