Early Intervention Officer

We are working closely with a local authority in Slough to assist with the appointment of a Early Intervention Officer, on a 6.5-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £27.43- £36.21 per hour

Summary:

Slough Borough Council is seeking an experienced Early Intervention Officer – Housing to join its Housing Needs Service.  Through early intervention, effective case management, and partnership working, the successful candidate will identify practical housing solutions, develop Personalised Housing Plans, and support individuals and families to secure and sustain suitable accommodation. 

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive housing needs assessments for individuals and households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.
• Assist applicants in accessing financial assistance, including rent deposits, rent in advance, Discretionary Housing Payments (DHPs), and homelessness prevention funds where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records using the council's housing management systems.
• Provide advice on tenancy sustainment, housing rights, welfare benefits, budgeting, and support services.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding responsibilities, equality legislation, GDPR, and council policies.
• Keep up to date with housing legislation, government guidance, and best practice in homelessness prevention.

Qualifications:

• Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent qualification (essential).

Essentials:

• Recent experience working in homelessness prevention, housing options, or housing advice services is essential
• Experience undertaking statutory homelessness assessments and managing complex housing cases.
• Sound working knowledge of Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Experience developing and managing Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs).

• This role requires an Enhanced DBS
