We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Revenue Cycle Authorization Manager to lead a 15-member team responsible for timely and accurate patient eligibility verification and authorization for all referrals. Reporting to the Director of Authorization, you will design and enforce policies, drive process improvements, and manage performance metrics to streamline authorization workflows across Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, commercial insurance, and self-pay channels.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of 15+ authorization specialists to meet productivity, accuracy, and compliance targets
- Oversee verification of medical records and documentation to secure authorizations before billing
- Collaborate with field staff to obtain necessary clinical and demographic information for clean claims
- Partner with Revenue Cycle and Billing leadership to maintain adherence to federal, state, NHPCO, and ACHC regulations
- Develop, implement, and update authorization policies and procedures; ensure team compliance
- Analyze performance data and prepare department reports on authorization volume, turnaround times, and denial rates
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize authorization processes and reduce denials
- Manage escalations related to field operations and customer service inquiries
- Support system implementations during acquisitions and lead change management for new billing platforms
- Coordinate cross-departmental collaboration with Sales, Operations, and IT for authorization-related projects
- Conduct hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance reviews for direct reports
- Allocate workloads and monitor productivity to maintain consistent quality and turnaround
About You
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field; OR four years of management experience in ambulatory, hospital, home health, or hospice settings
- Minimum two years of leadership experience in home health or hospice authorization or billing operations
- Strong knowledge of payer requirements, authorization workflows, and revenue cycle best practices
- Proven ability to design and implement policies, SOPs, and training programs
- Demonstrated success in using metrics to drive team performance and process improvements
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Comfortable managing confidential information and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with HomeCare HomeBase preferred
