[What the role is]
Research Executive[What you will be working on]
- Identify fish parasites and optimize parasite isolation and culturing techniques.
- Investigate and characterize the life cycle of fish parasites, including conducting time-point sample collection and analysis.
- Perform fish husbandry activities, including the maintenance of experimental fish groups and parasite cultures.
- Support project procurement activities, including liaising with vendors, preparing purchase requests, and managing laboratory consumables and equipment.
- Plan and conduct experiments in collaboration with the project team and external collaborators and prepare progress reports for regular project meetings.
- Supervise and mentor student interns involved in the research project, providing technical guidance and training.
- Maintain proper experimental records and ensure compliance with laboratory safety and institutional protocols.
- Perform any other research related duties assigned by the Principal Investigator or project team.
[What we are looking for]
- Qualification in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Aquaculture, Veterinary Science, or a related life sciences discipline.
- Hands-on experience in fish husbandry, including fish parasite identification, isolation, and culturing techniques.
- Experience in parasitology research and molecular biology techniques will be an advantage.
- Prior experience in animal cell culture, particularly fish primary cell culture, is preferred. Candidates with relevant laboratory experience and a willingness to learn will also be considered.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.
- Good organizational, planning, and multitasking skills, with a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to meeting project deadlines.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze, interpret, and present scientific data.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and enthusiastic about learning new laboratory techniques and supporting interdisciplinary research projects.
