Our team is dedicated to solving real customer problems for our colleagues, ensuring their needs are met with effective, reliable and innovative technology solutions. Within the Hunters & Collectors team, you will help support and enhance the Collections platform, which plays an important role in enabling bankers and operational teams to support customers effectively. You will work on the technology we deliver and own, including supporting complex issues, contributing to BAU platform stability, and helping deliver projects, platform improvements and operational uplift.
This is a full time fixed term opportunity until June 2027 based in Auckland, supporting delivery continuity and BAU stability for the Hunters & Collectors team and the Collections platform. This is a hybrid role with three days in the office and two days where you can work flexibly. Anchor days in the office are Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

As a Senior Developer in the Hunters & Collectors team, you will play an important role in supporting and enhancing the Collections platform, helping maintain reliable technology outcomes for bankers and customers.
What are some day-to-day tasks the person in this role will complete?
- Lead Development Efforts: Design, build and support robust, scalable solutions across the Collections platform and related services.
- Support Platform Stability: Participate in BAU support, production issue analysis, incident resolution and root cause remediation.
- Shape Technical Direction: Contribute to technical design, integration patterns, maintainability and long-term sustainability of platform components.
- Drive Operational Excellence: Champion practices that improve reliability, performance, deployment quality, monitoring and supportability.
- Mentor and Support: Coach junior and intermediate developers through code reviews, pair programming, feedback and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain Technical Documentation: Ensure system-level, support and architectural documentation is accurate, up to date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.

What technical skills / skills are required for this role?
- Strong experience designing, building and supporting RESTful APIs and integration services.
- Strong experience with Java and the Spring Boot framework.
- Experience using API gateways and proxies, for example Kong.
- Experience working with SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or similar.
- Experience building, packaging and running applications using Docker and container-based deployment patterns.
- Understanding of Kubernetes concepts and experience supporting containerised workloads, preferably on AWS EKS or similar platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, including production support, incident analysis and root cause investigation.
- Experience with monitoring, logging and operational support practices for cloud-based or containerised applications.
- Broader experience with cloud technologies, particularly AWS, is highly desirable.
