SUMMARY
Q2 is a mission-driven company focused on building strong and diverse communities by strengthening their financial institutions. To help fulfill this mission and commitment to the community, we seek an energetic, talented, experienced and passionate communications team member who will help execute against our external communications strategy. The Marketing Communications Specialist reports to the Manager, Marketing Communications and will help manage our public relations and thought leadership strategy and deliverables and will play a critical role in developing and executing our third-party paid media and advertising strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Works closely with the Manager, Marketing Communications to determine PR needs across assigned lines of business (LOBs) - announcements, PR campaigns, etc.
Manages a comprehensive PR calendar to ensure appropriate coordination with stakeholders, important deadlines are met, and the entire team is taking advantage of critical PR opportunities
Brings exceptional writing skills to every deliverable, from press releases and award applications to thought leadership content and media pitches, with the ability to adapt tone and style across audiences, formats, and channels while consistently reflecting Q2’s brand voice
Collaborates with subject matter experts to identify and develop thought leadership angles, speaking topics, and story opportunities for external market positioning
Develops and executes third-party paid media and advertising strategy, including sponsored content, trade media placements, and related opportunities that support brand discoverability
Builds and maintains relationships with trade media, industry influencers and relevant contacts to advance Q2’s share of voice in priority categories
Coordinates with a PR agency and internal stakeholders to ensure communicates are integrated into broader PR calendars and integrated marketing campaigns
Tracks and reports on PR and paid media performance metrics, including earned media outcomes, award wins, and share of voice, to inform ongoing strategy and demonstrate program impact
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, English or a related degree and a minimum of 5+ years of related experience
Experienced communications professional that is passionate with a high degree of empathy. Someone who cares about and values the role of communications to win the hearts and minds of our people
Eagerness to learn and develop new PR and social media skills
Ability to take what has been learned and apply it daily
Strong interpersonal skills are needed , and one must be comfortable in front of C-level executives
An exceptional writer with the ability to create compelling messages that effectively and clearly communicate to target audiences
Deep understanding of social media platforms and their ever-changing features and functionalities
Keenly aware of the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion as an essential element of communications best practice
Creative and proactive in bringing new ideas and approaches to better achieve the goals and objectives of the program
Ability to think strategically, create compelling and interesting PR and social media campaigns, and report on results
Must have the ability to build a strong relationship with cross-functional teams quickly
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are a must
A “team player” who is results-oriented
Superior collaboration and interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels of management. Ability to project a confident leadership image to peers and management
This position requires fluent written and oral communication in English.
