Job Description
Professor of Practice in Mechanical Engineering Program
LSU New Orleans College of Engineering is seeking to fill a full-time faculty position for the Mechanical Engineering Program. The B.S. in Mechanical Engineering is offered by the Dr. Robert A. Savoie College of Engineering at LSU New Orleans. The Department of Mechanical Engineering currently serves approximately 300 undergraduate students. In addition to the Bachelor of Science degree, students can earn Master of Science in Engineering and a Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Science degrees. The professor of practice position primarily supports the undergraduate program.
Job Summary
Regular course load of four courses, primarily undergraduate mechanical engineering courses, in both the Fall and Spring term.
Teach courses in other engineering disciplines based on the needs of the college.
Timely submission of assessment reports and other administrative tasks needed for accreditation.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the continued development of the mechanical engineering program.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering or a related field; or M.S. in mechanical engineering or a related field combined with > 5 years of industry experience as a practicing engineer.
Effective communication, organization, and administrative skills
Ability to multi-task, collect information, analyze data, define challenges, set priorities, and draw valid conclusions in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience in higher education.
Teaching experience in multiple engineering disciplines.
