Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Electrical Inspector – Roads & Infrastructure to join our team!
Location: Dubai, UAE
1. What You'll Be Doing
Perform daily site inspections of electrical works for roads and infrastructure (street lighting, LV networks, feeders, and associated control systems) to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and authority requirements.
Review and comment on electrical shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, ITPs, and as-built drawings for conformance with project and local authority standards (DEWA, RTA, Dubai Municipality, etc.).
Monitor installation of:
Street lighting poles, luminaires, control panels, feeder pillars, and associated cabling.
LV distribution networks, earthing and bonding systems, and protective devices.
Infrastructure-related electrical systems such as signage lighting, tunnel/underpass lighting, and ancillary power supplies.
Witness and record electrical testing and commissioning activities, including:
Insulation resistance tests, continuity tests, earth resistance tests.
Functional tests for street lighting circuits, controls, timers, photocells, and protection relays.
Verify that construction works comply with project specifications, IEC/BS standards, and the applicable Dubai authority regulations and safety codes.
Check and monitor contractor adherence to quality control procedures and project ITPs; issue inspection requests, non-conformance reports (\text{NCR}), and corrective action requests as needed.
Coordinate and liaise with the site supervision team, contractor’s staff, and relevant stakeholders to resolve technical issues related to electrical works.
Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, progress, and quality issues; prepare daily/weekly inspection and progress reports.
Support the Resident Engineer/Assistant Resident Engineer in monitoring electrical works progress against the program and identify delays or potential risks.
Ensure that electrical installations are executed with proper temporary and permanent safety measures in place, including trench safety, cable protection, and proper isolation and tagging.
Participate in site meetings, technical discussions, and coordination meetings with contractors, consultants, and authorities to address electrical-related matters.
Assist in reviewing and verifying quantities, measurements, and as-built data relevant to electrical works for payment certification and project close-out.
Provide technical input during handover of electrical systems, preparation of snag lists, and follow-up on rectification and final acceptance.
2. What Required Skills You'll Bring
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as an Electrical Inspector or similar role on roads and infrastructure projects, preferably in the UAE or GCC.
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
Strong knowledge of:
Street lighting and LV distribution systems for roads and infrastructure.
Standards and codes such as IEC/BS and applicable local authority regulations (DEWA, RTA, Dubai Municipality).
Proven experience in site inspection, quality control, and supervision of electrical works in large-scale civil/infra projects.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, cable routing layouts, and coordination drawings.
Practical experience with electrical testing, commissioning procedures, and inspection of cable laying, jointing, termination, and panel installations.
Familiarity with construction supervision processes, including ITRs, ITPs, NCRs, and quality documentation.
Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements related to electrical works in road corridors and infrastructure projects.
Good communication skills in English (written and verbal) for report writing, coordination, and interface with contractors/clients.
Competent in using standard office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic project documentation tools.
3. What Desired Skills You'll Bring
Previous experience on major roads, highways, or infrastructure projects in Dubai.
Working knowledge of:
Dubai-specific authority procedures and approval processes (DEWA, RTA, Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense).
Local regulations for utility corridors, road lighting, and traffic-related electrical systems.
Experience with:
Tunnel/underpass lighting, signboard lighting, and ITS/traffic systems (if applicable).
Integration of electrical works with other utilities (water, sewerage, telecom, etc.).
Familiarity with QA/QC and construction management software or digital inspection/reporting systems.
Ability to identify and proactively resolve constructability issues on site.
Strong coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, utilities, traffic).
Valid UAE driving license (or ability to obtain one) for site travel.
Professional certifications or memberships in relevant engineering bodies are an added advantage.
