We're looking for a Head of Underwriting Oversight, to based in our Gibraltar office.

You'll provide first-line oversight of underwriting and pricing activities to ensure business is written to plan within approved risk appetite, pricing methodologies remain fit for purpose, customer outcomes are delivered, and activities comply with regulatory, governance and conduct expectations.

You could be a great fit if you:

• Have extensive experience in insurance underwriting and/or pricing
• Possess strong knowledge of UK and/or Gibraltar regulatory frameworks
• Have a good understanding of effective governance frameworks
• Have proven experience of managing senior stakeholders at Management, Executive and Board level

Job Responsibilities:                                                 

Governance

• Lead and maintain the underwriting and pricing governance framework to deliver plan, collaborating with actuarial and claims teams.
• Ensure policies, standards, controls and delegated authorities remain current and effective.
• Keeping oversight in pricing and underwriting forums and ensure decisions are appropriately documented and escalated.

Pricing

• Review pricing performance against plans.
• Challenge pricing proposals, assumptions, methodologies and deployment plans.
• Monitor pricing model governance, testing, validation and implementation controls.
• Ensure pricing changes follow robust analysis, documentation and approval processes.

Underwriting

• Monitor underwriting performance against risk appetite, footprint and portfolio strategy.
• Oversee underwriting rule changes.
• Review underwriting MI to identify emerging trends and performance to plan variances.

Risk & Control

• Own or oversee material controls relating to pricing and underwriting risk.
• Conduct thematic reviews into pricing adequacy and underwriting performance.
• Ensure pricing and underwriting decisions support good customer outcomes.

Regulatory & Board Reporting

• Prepare Pricing & Underwriting MI and reports for Committees and Board.
• Support regulatory interactions with the GFSC and other relevant authorities.

Outsourcing & Third-Party Oversight

• Monitor outsourced pricing, underwriting and analytical services.

What we're looking for:

Skills

• Strong understanding of insurance underwriting and technical pricing.
• Understanding of Consumer Duty, product governance and fair value.
• Strong understanding of risk appetite, controls, assurance and oversight methodologies.
• Strong data interpretation and MI review skills.
• Ability to challenge pricing assumptions and underwriting performance constructively.
• Experience identifying emerging risks, trends and opportunities from complex datasets.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to senior stakeholders and boards.
• Strong stakeholder management across underwriting, pricing, actuarial, finance, risk and compliance teams.
• Experience of committee/board governance and reporting
