Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – Lead / Preceptor
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced, independent, and nationally certified Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our tight-knit 8-bed surgical services team. This role is designed for a seasoned professional who can seamlessly maintain the sterile field across a robust mix of surgical specialties, work with absolute autonomy, and actively step into a leadership capacity by precepting and mentoring incoming clinical staff.
Shift & Schedule Expectations:
- Shift Format: Standard 8-hour day shifts (10-hour or 12-hour shifts are not available for this position).
- On-Call Requirement: Full participation in the facility's rotating on-call schedule is a firm requirement for this role.
- Logistics: Candidates must possess a reliable personal vehicle for commuting and on-call responses.

Key Responsibilities:
- Sterile Field Management: Prepare operating rooms with appropriate instruments, sterile drapes, and specialized equipment; seamlessly anticipate the needs of surgeons across diverse procedural specialties.
- Precepting & Leadership: Take direct responsibility for guiding, teaching, and precepting new staff or students, documenting proficiency, and fostering a strong team environment.
- Documentation & Coordination: Utilize hospital tracking platforms (Meditech Expanse environment) to ensure accurate case recording and supply management.
- Department Upkeep: Maintain surgical instruments, monitor aseptic technique, and adhere to strict safety protocols in an active 8-bed unit.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
Experience & Core Competencies:
- Surgical Tech Experience: Minimum of 5 years of current, active CST experience [Required - Non-Negotiable].
- Contract History: Proven travel contract history is [Required]. Please note: First-time travelers cannot be considered for this opening.
- Precepting Skillset: Demonstrated experience and professional proficiency in precepting and teaching clinical peers [Required].
Licensure & Certifications:
- National Certification: Active certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) [Required - NCCT is not accepted].
- Life Support: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) [Required].
Planned Time Off (RTO) Policy:
- To maintain stable staffing numbers across the unit, all requested time off must be finalized and included with your initial application profile. The facility is unable to approve scheduling requests or modifications after your submission is forwarded to the hiring manager.
