Primary responsibility for operation and maintenance of equipment assigned under the Staff Chief Engineer guidance and supervision.
Responsibility and Authority
- Incinerator and compactors;
- MMEE and DDGG (depending on ER configuration) HFO, LO, HT, LT and SW cooling systems and ancillaries (in cooperation with 1st Engineer)
- Galleys food waste and pulper systems (supports Hotel engineer);
- Water tight doors;
- Machinery rooms fire dampers;
- Oily Water Separator operation and maintenance (under the Staff Chief Engineer's supervision);
- EDG (supports 1st Engineer);
- Advance waste water system (daily operation and testing): repair maintenance to be coordinated with the Staff Chief Engineer;
- Windlass and mooring winches;
- Shell doors and Tender platforms (Hydraulic systems);
- Life boat davits systems (assists the Hotel Engineer and the Staff Chief Engineer);
- Quick closing and cross flooding valves
- Air emission monitoring system (SS Navigator only)
- Supports the Staff Engineer and the 1st Engineer on daily tasks as necessary
- If assigned to a watch, responsible for ensuring the Fuel Switchover process is carried out as outlined.
Education and Experience
- Qualifications shall conform to all International and National conventions and regulations as required by the Flag State and by the STCW 95.
- Knowledge of the Company SMS
Skills including but not limited to:
