General Summary:

Cloud Implementation: Own & drive the deployment of platform solutions with a strong emphasis on AWS, Infrastructure as Code, and GitOps driven workflows.

· Kubernetes Platform Engineering (EKS): Provision, upgrade, and operate production EKS clusters and core platform services in multi-tenant environments, including autoscaling patterns using Karpenter.

· GitOps & CI/CD Enablement: Build and maintain GitOps workflows using Argo CD and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, enabling repeatable, audited delivery patterns.

· Optimization & Performance: Continuously evaluate and tune platform capabilities and services to improve reliability, performance, and cost efficiency for development teams.

· Observability: Build and maintain robust monitoring/alerting and recovery processes for platform services and components leveraging Datadog and Prometheus/Grafana.

· Security & Policy: Implement secure-by-default cluster and workload patterns, including network and policy controls (e.g., Cilium and Kyverno), RBAC, and least-privilege access.

· Design & Collaboration: Contribute to technical design docs and proposals; collaborate with Platform Architects for validation/approval and drive implementation through delivery.

· Operations & On-call: Participate in a required on-call rotation, including potential 24/7 coverage; lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventative actions.

Minimum Qualifications:

· 10+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor’s degree OR 7+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree

· 3+ years hands-on experience operating Kubernetes in production environments; EKS strongly preferred

· 3+ years of leadership skills, with experience mentoring engineers, driving execution, and collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders

· Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices (modules, state management, environment promotion, CI integration)

· Strong hands-on experience with AWS, especially VPC/networking, IAM, and EKS-related services

· Strong understanding of GitOps and CI/CD concepts with practical experience using Argo CD and GitHub Actions

· Practical experience implementing and operating observability (metrics/logs/alerts) for platform services

Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD; CKS a plus). Kubernetes certificates are highly desirable

· AWS certifications: Solution Architect Professional and/or DevOps Engineer Professional (highly desirable)

· Experience with Karpenter provisioning strategies, node consolidation, and cost/performance tuning

· Experience with policy-as-code tooling such as Kyverno (writing/enforcing policies, exceptions, rollout strategy)

· Experience operating Datadog and Prometheus/Grafana at scale (dashboards, alert tuning, SLOs)

· Exposure to Crossplane concepts for enabling self-service infrastructure (without requiring deep specialization)

Minimum Qualifications:

• 4+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.

OR

7+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
