Ready Mix CDL Driver/Laborer - Charlotte

At Hi-Way Paving, we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving, storm drainage, and excavation on highways and airfields.

We are currently seeking a certified ready-mix CDL Driver/Laborer to join our team at our job site in Charlotte, NC. Presently, this position will require you to work overnight.  The ideal candidate will operate ready-mix concrete trucks, assist with loading and unloading equipment and materials, and perform daily maintenance and inspections on equipment. In addition to driving responsibilities, the CDL Driver will support the operations with general labor tasks on the construction site. The driver is required to maintain a valid commercial driver's license.   

Additionally, the Ready Mix CDL Driver will assist with general labor tasks on-site. Depending on project needs, this position requires flexibility to work both day and night shifts.

While based in Charlotte, NC, this role may require up to 100% travel to job sites in Nashville, TN; and other future site locations TBD.

What You'll Do:

• Drive company vehicles, including a ready-mix concrete truck, water truck, vac truck, dump truck, fuel truck, and more. 
• Distribute materials to appropriate job locations according to project plans or specifications. 
• Assist mechanics with the general maintenance of commercial vehicles. 
• Shovel and rake dirt, gravel, and concrete as needed. 
• Operate small equipment such as dozers, backhoes, and rollers when required. 
• Direct vehicle traffic and signal equipment operators as needed. 
•  Communicate effectively with laborers, machine operators, and site management. 
• Follow safe work practices and adhere to all safety protocols and instructions. 

Requirements

 What We Look For:

• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) (Required) 
• Class A or B CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsement (Preferred) 
• NRMCA, CDP Ready-Mix certification (Preferred) 
• Manual Transmission Experience (Required) 
• Previous experience contributing to a concrete paving crew at airfields or airports (Preferred). 
• Availability to work overnight (Required) 
• Willingness to travel 100% of the time (Required) 
• Ability to obtain clearance for restricted/high-security zones (e.g., Airport AOA, Military Bases) (Required) 
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs., climb, stand, sit, walk, enter confined spaces, push, pull, kneel, squat, and perform repetitive movements.
