RECRUITMENT TYPE
OPEN - anyone may apply.
The District currently has one vacancy for 3.75 hours per day, 12 months per year. Work hours will be 3:00 pm - 6:45 pm, Monday - Friday. The eligibility list being established will be used to fill the current vacancy and to fill future vacancies in this classification which may occur within one year.
The examination process will consist of supplemental questions within the application, a job-related written examination, a performance examination, and a qualification appraisal interview followed by a selection interview for candidates in the top three ranks.
BASIC POSITION INFORMATION
Under the direction of the Supervisor-Maintenance and Operations or designee, perform journey-level work in the maintenance of furnaces, boilers, pool heaters, ventilation exhaust systems, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems; assure proper operation of related systems and equipment; maintain and program the District's Energy Management System to assure proper working schedules.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This class works as skilled maintenance at the journey level in the HVAC trade. While the incumbents are expected to perform other skilled maintenance duties, it is expected that at least 75% of the time worked by this class during a 12-month period would be in the HVAC specialty.

Maintain and program the District's Energy Management System to ensure proper working schedules; program system for operation during the day and special events after hours; adjust room temperatures at the computer; program electronic thermostats. E
Diagnose and repair air conditioning and heating equipment, including air conditioners, ventilation exhaust systems, refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, boilers, and water heating systems. E
Trace out electrical circuits and replace faulty electrical parts. E
Check heating equipment for gas leaks; light pilot lights; repair or replace burners as necessary; install new gas valves and gas piping for heating equipment; install electrical gas ignition systems as necessary. E
Diagnose and replace faulty compressors, filter dryers, tubing, expansion valves, and other system parts and repair refrigerant leaks in systems. E
Welding of replacement parts on refrigeration and air conditioning systems. E
Repair, rewire, replace, and calibrate electronic thermostats and damper motors. E
Diagnose and repair air conditioning and heating equipment, including air conditioners, ventilation exhaust systems, refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, boilers, and water heating systems. E

Order equipment and replacement parts; maintain a record of warranty dates; advise supervisor of faulty equipment and make recommendations for replacement as necessary; advise supervisors on the type of replacement equipment. E
Assist other maintenance personnel with projects in various skilled trades as assigned.
Provide work direction and guidance to other assigned maintenance personnel on a project basis.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Valid California driver's license.

APPOINTMENT
