Description

Overview

LMI is seeking an Autonomous Systems Integrator with strong DoD networking expertise to support Autonomous Warfare Command staff. The Integrator designs, configures, and troubleshoots the logical networks and secure data connections that link autonomous platforms, control stations, mission software, cloud services, and tactical edge systems. The role translates operational needs into network architectures and integration plans, then works across government and industry teams to deliver reliable end-to-end connectivity and interoperability.

Networking is the primary technical discipline for this position, supported by practical software integration and cloud experience. The emphasis is on routing, virtual networks, segmentation, secure communications, application connectivity, and data exchange across mission environments, rather than primarily administering physical servers, switches, or network appliances. The ideal candidate combines hands-on network troubleshooting with autonomous-systems experience and the ability to advise command staff and coordinate technical teams.

LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI brings commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready AI to federal agencies at commercial speed.

Leveraging our mission-ready technology and solutions, proven expertise in federal deployment, and strategic relationships, we enhance outcomes for the government efficiently and effectively. With a focus on agility and collaboration, LMI serves the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors, helping agencies navigate complexity and outpace change. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.

This position requires on-site support in Tampa, Florida and an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance. The position requires periodic travel to supported commands, operational units, exercises, test events, and industry locations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and integrate logical network architectures connecting autonomous platforms, control stations, sensors, mission applications, cloud services, and approved DoD networks.
  • Configure and troubleshoot IP addressing, subnets, routing policies, Domain Name System, network segmentation, firewalls, secure tunnels, and application connectivity across enterprise, cloud, and tactical edge environments.
  • Integrate cloud-hosted mission services with government and tactical networks, coordinating virtual networks, routing, network access controls, service endpoints, identity, and monitoring with platform engineers.
  • Develop resilient connectivity and data-exchange approaches for disconnected, intermittent, and low-bandwidth environments, addressing latency, bandwidth limits, failover, traffic prioritization, synchronization, and recovery.
  • Translate autonomous-system communications, telemetry, and mission-software needs into network requirements and interface designs; identify dependencies and constraints with vendors and operational users.
  • Integrate mission software and data services using application programming interfaces (APIs), middleware, messaging interfaces, and configuration-based connections; validate both network connectivity and usable data exchange.
  • Use scripts, API queries, configuration files, and automation tools to validate network paths, test interfaces, and reduce repetitive integration tasks; maintain version-controlled configurations and documentation.
  • Diagnose end-to-end faults using network diagnostics, packet analysis, routing information, and application logs; distinguish transport, routing, security-policy, identity, and software-interface problems.
  • Coordinate DODIN network access, connection approvals, authentication, certificates, security controls, and any cross-domain requirements with responsible government authorities; preserve approved security boundaries and data-handling restrictions.
  • Plan and support laboratory and field integration tests, demonstrations, exercises, and operational assessments; evaluate network performance, interoperability, degraded-mode behavior, and recovery.
  • Synchronize operators, intelligence staff, software developers, platform engineers, cybersecurity personnel, vendors, and government network owners; resolve technical dependencies and track integration actions through closure.
  • Advise command staff on network and integration requirements, risks, and tradeoffs; maintain logical network diagrams, data-flow documentation, interface specifications, configuration baselines, test results, and decision-ready briefings.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
  • Four or more years of relevant experience in DoD networking, network integration, mission-system integration, cloud networking, or a related technical discipline, including hands-on network design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience integrating or supporting mission systems on DoD networks, including the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN), with an understanding of network access, security boundaries, and government connection-approval processes.
  • Strong practical knowledge of logical networking, including TCP/IP, IP addressing, subnetting, routing, Domain Name System, ports and protocols, virtual networks, firewalls, virtual private networks, segmentation, certificates, and secure application connectivity.
  • Direct experience integrating, testing, fielding, or technically supporting autonomous or uncrewed systems, including their communications, control systems, mission software, or operational data interfaces. Traditional enterprise network administration alone does not meet this requirement.
  • Practical experience configuring, integrating, or supporting services in at least one cloud environment, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, including virtual networking or secure application connectivity. Coursework or certification alone is insufficient.
  • Hands-on software-integration experience using APIs, application configurations, data interfaces, or middleware. Ability to interpret application logs and structured data, test interfaces, and read or modify basic scripts in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or a comparable language.
  • Ability to diagnose end-to-end network and integration problems using network diagnostic tools, packet analysis, routing information, and logs, and coordinate corrective actions across network, cloud, cybersecurity, and software teams.
  • Experience translating operational needs into logical network diagrams, data-flow documentation, technical requirements, interface specifications, test criteria, or implementation guidance.
  • Strong written communication, briefing, facilitation, and customer engagement skills, including the ability to explain technical dependencies and tradeoffs to command staff and operational users.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, network engineering, electrical engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of military technical training, education, and directly relevant experience.
  • Ability to satisfy applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the assigned work role within the required timeframe.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior service as a U.S. Army 350-series warrant officer, or comparable military technical integrator, with experience supporting command staffs, intelligence architectures, or mission-network integration.
  • Experience supporting a combatant command, Joint staff, Special Operations Forces organization, or Service headquarters in a technical advisory or integration role.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or container networking, Linux-based mission services, infrastructure as code, source control, or automated software delivery workflows.
  • Experience with tactical command-and-control applications, Team Awareness Kit (TAK), sensor-data interfaces, autonomous-platform telemetry, or integration of systems from multiple vendors.
  • Experience with government cloud networking, software-defined networking, tactical transport integration, Zero Trust architectures, approved cross-domain services, or coalition information-sharing environments.
  • Experience supporting autonomous-system experimentation, technical demonstrations, user assessments, or transition of emerging capabilities into operational use.
  • Networking, cloud, systems integration, software automation, or cybersecurity certifications relevant to the assignment.
