Job Purpose
The Senior Material Coordinator is responsible for planning, controlling, and coordinating all material management activities for CRPO (Construction, Repair, Projects & Offshore) projects. The role ensures timely availability of materials, equipment, consumables, and project assets to support fabrication, offshore, marine, maintenance, and repair operations while maintaining inventory accuracy, traceability, and compliance with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Material Planning & Coordination
- Coordinate the receipt, storage, issuance, and tracking of project materials and equipment.
- Ensure materials are available in accordance with project schedules and operational requirements.
- Monitor material demand forecasts and support procurement planning activities.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Warehouse, and Project teams to ensure smooth material flow.
- Review BOMs (Bill of Materials), material requisitions, and work packages to identify material requirements.
Inventory & Warehouse Management
- Maintain accurate inventory records and material tracking systems.
- Monitor inventory levels and initiate replenishment requests when required.
- Conduct periodic stock verification and inventory audits.
- Ensure proper material preservation, storage, handling, and identification.
- Manage surplus, excess, obsolete, and slow-moving materials.
Logistics & Expediting
- Coordinate material deliveries from suppliers, fabrication yards, and project locations.
- Monitor shipment schedules and follow up on overdue deliveries.
- Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs agents, and logistics providers.
- Support offshore and marine mobilization requirements.
- Ensure timely material movement to fabrication shops, vessels, and project sites.
Project Support
- Track material status and provide regular reports to project management.
- Identify potential material shortages and develop mitigation plans.
- Support project planning teams by providing material availability updates.
- Ensure critical materials are prioritized to avoid project delays.
- Participate in project progress meetings and material review sessions.
Quality & Compliance
- Verify received materials against purchase orders and project specifications.
- Ensure traceability requirements are maintained for critical materials.
- Coordinate with Quality Control teams regarding material inspections and certifications.
- Maintain material certificates, test reports, and relevant documentation.
- Ensure compliance with client, project, and company material management procedures.
HSE Responsibilities
- Ensure safe material handling, storage, and transportation practices.
- Promote compliance with HSE policies and warehouse safety procedures.
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety initiatives.
- Support continuous improvement in logistics and material handling operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Professional certifications in Supply Chain, Logistics, Inventory Management, or Materials Management are preferred.
- ERP system certification or experience will be an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 8-12 years of experience in material coordination, warehouse management, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Minimum 3-5 years in a senior material coordination role.
- Proven experience supporting CRPO, offshore, marine, shipyard, EPC, fabrication, or industrial construction projects.
- Experience managing large-scale project material requirements in fast-paced operational environments.
- Familiarity with offshore and marine project logistics is highly desirable.
