We are seeking a talented individual to join our Impact team at Marsh (Mercer) . This role will be based in Glasgow. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.


You will join a highly creative employee communications agency within Mercer known as Impact. https://weareimpact.marsh.com/

This role will focus on crafting and executing impactful communications for a broad range of trustee and corporate clients, covering all aspects of member engagement including guiding members through complex pension change exercises.

This is an opportunity to be part of a fast-growing team that’s been named a ‘big bet’ for the UK organisation.

As a Consultant in the Impact team, you will lead the delivery of complex and high-impact communication projects across a broad range of sectors, with the opportunity to move beyond pension communications to deliver wider reward, benefits, and organisational change initiatives.

You will act as a trusted adviser to clients, developing and executing strategic communication plans that drive engagement and member outcomes. You will work closely with the Head of Member Experience to help drive forward the business in this area.

Pensions experience is essential, with experience in a similar role highly desirable.


We will count on you to:

  • Focus mainly on pension communications, delivering client communication strategies and managing the end-to end communication project delivery from the point of initial contact through to final evaluation
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships, produce and manage all client communication collateral on time and to budget.
  • Be responsible for consulting with both internal and external stakeholders and be able to identify communication requirements for the engagement of the pension scheme members; creating, managing and delivering communication strategies for clients including approach and communication channels.
  • Manage the delivery throughout the lifecycle of the communication project, developing communication project plans, setting milestones, coordinating internal and external resources to ensure project delivery.
  • Communication Strategy/Plan Delivery:

o Develop and execute innovative communication strategies for complex initiatives

o Initiate ideas, develop innovative concepts and deliver plans to meet client’s requirements and to required professional standards

o Lead the development of strategic communication plans, recommend and implement tactics and best practices for effectively reaching varied segments to ensure high levels of engagement

o Review, curate and edit all communication collateral – letters, leaflets, articles, videos, presentations and any other material

  • Project Management

o Create strong, on-going (internal and external) client relationships becoming their trusted partner and influential adviser on all pension scheme member engagement issues

  • Clients/Sales Performance

o Build a pipeline of $150k of communications business through building relationships with internal colleagues, new business proposals and pitches

o Engage in team collaboration to leverage contribution and opportunities across the lines of business

o Identify and follow up on new opportunities with contacts in the Retirement business

o Contribute to market/product development initiatives


What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, or related experience
  • Solid work experience gained in corporate communications or related field, ideally experience supporting pension communication initiatives
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills plus editing skills
  • Deep understanding of communication strategies, tools and measurements
  • Ability to communicate with senior leadership with confidence
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain working relationships with both internal and external clients
