Ontic’s Chatsworth, CA, site specializes in precision engineering, MRO, and new solutions for parts at risk of obsolescence. Our team is looking for an on-site Paint Cell Manager. The Paint Cell Manager position is responsible for managing and directing the paint department, in an ISO9000/AS-9100 certified aerospace company. The paint department processes moderate to complex assemblies that support multiple product lines within business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES FOR THIS JOB
General
Manage and supervise paint shop activities daily; assure that all policies are consistently adhered to. Will exercise independent judgment and discretion in the performance of duties. Work effectively with employees, co-workers, management, customers and others. Share ideas in a constructive and positive manner, listen to and objectively considers ideas and suggestions from others. Keep commitments; keep others informed of work progress, timetables and issues. Address problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions.
Quality
Strive for 100% quality acceptance.
· Provide training and resources to promote 100% quality acceptance.
· Monitor and assure all processes/practices are in place and maintained to produce quality products that have complete part and assembly tractability.
· Provide required training and auditing to ensure that system transactions and data entry are processed accurately and in timely manner to support system integrity and part tractability.
Safety/Productivity/Cost Control
- Meet or exceed schedules as provided by production planning within budget, while maintaining a safe work environment.
- Apply continuous improvement to processes on an ongoing basis to reduce production time.
- Manage all resources (employees, space, tools, instructions, training and materials) in order to support production in a cost-effective manner.
- Prioritize daily workflow and assign work for productive execution. Get involved when things are not working right and take the required action.
- Monitor product quality and take required action in timely manner to keep rework and scrap to minimum.
- Partner with Production Manager to constructively utilize training budget to develop individual’s skills and build department ability to productively process quality products in cost-effective manner.
- Take initiative to act without waiting to be told what to do. Help team achieve goals.

- REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Minimum 5 years experience in a aerospace manufacturing production environment with focus on understanding aerospace coating specifications. Read and understand blueprints, specifications, schematics.

- Possess advanced leadership skills. Evaluate and resolve product, and process problems. Develop and build a strong team environment. Able to handle the demands of fast-paced production schedules. Good verbal, written, organization and communication skills. Good working knowledge of excel and word.
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principals.
- Able to productively handle multiple product mix and short run production schedules.
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (bills of materials, routings, labor reporting, etc.)
- Some engineering background or product trouble shooting evaluation skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
- ISO9000/AS-9100 exposure.

Compensation Pay Range
