Position Summary: 

Implements, facilitates, and oversees key elements of the Company’s compliance program, including compliance advisory, compliance risk assessments, regulatory examinations and inquiries, and strategic compliance initiatives. Partners with business leaders, the Office of General Counsel, Government Relations, regulators, auditors, and other stakeholders to interpret requirements, assess significant compliance risks, guide implementation of regulatory change, and provide senior leadership and the Board with clear, timely insight into compliance matters.

Professional Experience and Qualifications:

  • 7+ years in Financial services experience in compliance, audit, or another risk-related discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of financial services industry experience, including compliance, audit, and/or another risk-related discipline. Proven record of driving results, building effective relationships at all organizational levels, understanding business challenges and objectives, and completing complex work in a timely and organized manner. Demonstrated familiarity with collection practices and applicable federal and state laws governing the industry.
  • Advanced: Knowledge of compliance risk management, regulatory change, regulatory examinations, and compliance advisory practices.
  • Advanced: Familiarity with collection practices and applicable federal and state consumer financial services laws and regulations.
  • Advanced: Leadership, relationship management, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Advanced: Written and oral communication, including the ability to present complex information clearly to senior leaders, regulators, auditors, and large audiences.
  • Advanced: Analytical judgment, risk assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making under tight deadlines.
  • Advanced: Ability to identify business challenges, understand business objectives, think strategically, and develop practical solutions.
  • Advanced: Organization and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient: Microsoft Office applications.

Key Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Leads compliance advisory activities and compliance risk assessments for applicable business areas across PRA Group and its U.S. subsidiaries, providing timely, practical guidance consistent with federal and state legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Leads and coordinates regulatory examinations, audits, civil investigative demands, requests for information, and related responses, including evaluation of findings and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Validates and analyzes data produced in response to regulatory inquiries to support accurate, complete, and defensible submissions; drafts written responses and presentations for regulators, auditors, executives, and the Board.
  • Reviews and advises on responses to seller audits and due diligence reviews of PRA to ensure responses are accurate and complete.
  • Serves as a compliance subject matter expert on strategic, operational, infrastructure, new product, new market, seller due diligence, customer communication, and process-change initiatives.
  • Partners with the Office of General Counsel and Government Relations to monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments, assesses emerging risks and trends, and supports implementation of required changes.
  • Works with business units and control functions to identify, measure, monitor, manage, and mitigate compliance risks within PRA Group and its subsidiaries.
  • Develops and maintains compliance management reporting that provides executive leadership, risk and compliance governance committees, and the Board with transparency into key compliance metrics, issues, risks, and trends.
  • Supports the design, administration, and continuous improvement of compliance monitoring activities, policies and procedures, training, quality monitoring, analytics and reporting, and related compliance program components.
  • Performs other projects and special assignments as required.

Leadership/Supervisory Responsibilities & Level:

  • Provides leadership, direction, coordination, and evaluation for assigned compliance teams and people leaders.
  • Hires, train, develops, coaches, and motivates team members; provides formal performance feedback and prepares employees for increased responsibility.
  • Plans, assigns, and directs work; balances workloads; establishes priorities; ensures timely, organized completion of commitments.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws, including addressing concerns, resolving problems, recognizing performance, and taking appropriate corrective action.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, risk management, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.



Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office environment with telephones, personal computers, and printers. The office environment is an open workspace with individual workstations.  The noise level of the environment is usually moderate.  This position is a sedentary position with seldom to occasional lifting of less than 11 pounds; requires frequent lifting of less than 1 pound; and may require standing less than or equal to 1/3 of the day.

Salary Range:

PRA Group has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, specific working location and market position. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and PRA Group reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications and location of the selected candidate.  In addition to base salary, PRA may offer additional benefits to include performance based bonus programs and/or equity programs depending on the position.  PRA offers paid time off, medical, dental, vision, 401k match, life insurance, and other benefits to assist with the physical and mental wellbeing of our employees.
