Description

Superintendent – Mechanical/Industrial Construction

Lead the Field. Build the Team. Deliver Results.

Are you a hands-on construction leader who knows how to keep crews moving, solve problems in the field, and get complex projects across the finish line? R.H. White is looking for a Superintendent to lead field operations on major mechanical and heavy industrial construction projects throughout New England.

In this role, you'll oversee daily field activities, coordinate crews and subcontractors, and make sure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. From complex piping installations to heavy rigging and equipment work, you'll play a key role in bringing challenging projects to life.

At R.H. White, safety comes first, teamwork matters, and experienced leaders have the opportunity to make a real impact.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Field Operations: Oversee daily construction activities, ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with project plans, specifications, budgets, and schedules.

  • Keep Projects on Track: Develop and manage work schedules, identify critical-path activities, and coordinate the timely delivery of materials and equipment.

  • Manage Crews and Subcontractors: Schedule and direct field employees and subcontractors, maximizing productivity and making the best use of labor, equipment, and materials.

  • Drive Safety and Quality: Set clear expectations, enforce safety procedures, and ensure all work meets contract requirements and quality standards.

  • Solve Problems in the Field: Provide technical guidance, coordinate with Project Managers and customers, and address challenges before they impact project progress.

  • Manage Resources and Costs: Monitor labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor performance to help keep projects on budget.

  • Maintain Accurate Records: Oversee time sheets, work orders, material tracking, billing documentation, and project reports.

  • Develop Your Team: Provide direction and training to craft employees, support workforce decisions, and promote accountability and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a strong field leader with a solid mechanical/heavy industrial background, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to keep people and projects moving forward.

You'll bring:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent combination of technical training and relevant work experience.

  • At least 7 years of construction site leadership experience in underground or utility construction.

  • Experience overseeing projects valued at $4 million–$8 million, including complex piping and heavy rigging.

  • Knowledge of pump and machinery repair, basic electrical systems, construction methods, and materials.

  • The ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents, along with an understanding of line, grade, and surveying methods.

  • Knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control, and basic accounting procedures.

  • Familiarity with craft agreements, work jurisdiction, and field-level coordination and negotiations.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction software platforms such as Primavera, Procore, or COINS.

  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and team management skills.

Additional requirements:

  • OSHA 10 certification (company-supported if not current).

  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical card, with assistance provided.

  • Valid U.S. driver's license.

  • Successful completion of required pre-employment drug screening, background check, and motor vehicle record review.
