SAP Data Management:

The SAP Data Management Group manages the implementation of complex projects related to the Lilly single global instance of SAP, as well as other systems and processes that connect to SAP.  This team supports all business units and divisions of the corporation.  Projects include the integration of new plant sites, changes related to logistics, acquisitions, divestitures, system upgrades, and integration of new technology for the purpose of automation or meeting external requirements.  Team members include global process owners, subject matter experts, master data experts, and other support roles who help manage the end-to-end integration.  This group also provides production support and master data governance. The SAP Data Management Group works in close partnership with the Information Technology team in support of all initiatives.

Purpose of the Position:

Master Data Governance is essential to the successful use of SAP at Eli Lilly and Company.  Without clean, accurate, relevant, and consistent master data, SAP cannot be leveraged to its full potential.

The Finance Global Data Analyst works as a member of the Master Data Management (MDM) team to support Purchase To Pay business processes within SAP.  The Global Data Analyst provides detailed knowledge and assistance to Global Business Solution centers (GBS), affiliates, sites, and outsourced partners to ensure understanding of the data and changes needed to support everyday business.

Specifically, the GDA executes the master data governance strategy, delivers projects, and provides day-to-day production support to the user community.  The team is focused on utilising Technology — including SAP S/4HANA, MDG/DGIM, Microsoft Fabric, ARIA, and Claude — as part of our Finance Transformation Strategy to allow for process improvement and automation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Protect the integrity and accuracy of data to be loaded into the SAP system

  • Articulate the impact to master data of IT design, business processes, & end user transactions

  • Leverage technology, including Microsoft Fabric, ARIA, and Claude, for process improvement and automation

  • Support a culture of Innovation and continuous improvement within the team.

Project Implementation

  • Partner with IT and SME resources to represent MDM and identify and resolve data and design gaps

  • Lead local contacts through Data Mapping, Discovery, and Transformation

  • Leverage technical expertise to Load and Verify master data

  • Evaluate and pilot emerging technologies, including SAP S/4HANA, MDG/DGIM, Microsoft Fabric, ARIA, and Claude, alongside broader AI/ML, APIs, and data lake capabilities.

  • Apply MDM governance rules and concepts to project work

  • Support organisational priorities and transformation objectives

  • Escalate issues proactively to the Data Management Leadership or relevant Global Process Owner when broader intervention or decision-making authority is required

User Education

  • Develop and refine global data documentation as needed: SOPs, User Guides, Job Aids, etc

End-User Support

  • Cross-train and share daily production support workload with other global data analysts
