About the job

Enovix (Nasdaq: ENVX) is an advanced silicon battery company based in Fremont, Calif.

Enovix is on a mission to power the technologies of the future. Everything from IoT, mobile and computing devices, to the vehicle you drive, needs a better battery. Our disruptive architecture enables a battery with high energy density and capacity without compromising safety. We are scaling our silicon-anode, lithium-ion battery manufacturing capabilities to meet customer demand. For more information visit www.enovix.com and follow us on LinkedIn.

This is an exciting time at Enovix! We are looking for experienced candidates to help support our new lithium-ion battery production facility in Penang, Malaysia for commercialization of our 3D Silicon™ Lithium-ion Rechargeable Battery.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on Technical Project Lead (TPL) to anchor execution of battery New Product Introduction (NPI) programs across cell, module, and pack-level builds, ensuring tooling, process, and operations readiness from prototype through MPV.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Own battery NPI execution from prototype builds (EVT/DVT/PVT) through MPV, meeting schedule, scope, and quality targets.
  • Bridge R&D and Manufacturing, translating design intent into robust, scalable processes through customer qualification and mass production.
  • Manage factory readiness for NPI builds: tool procurement, installation, and qualification; line layout; station readiness; and material flow.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams on line design, throughput and headcount planning, IQA/IPQC/OQC checkpoints, and SPC monitoring.
  • Align R&D, engineering, operations, EHS, quality, and supply chain to resolve blockers.
  • Identify technical risks (e.g., yield, process maturity, equipment delays) and drive mitigation and closure of open issues through structured issue management and regular technical meetings.
  • Maintain build plans, tooling trackers, layout drawings, readiness checklists, and deviation reports, and support related Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for customers during NPI builds, including status updates, design and readiness reviews, audits, and site visits.
  • Lead resolution of customer quality issues using 8D, CAPA, and RCCA, and deliver PPAP/FAI packages, control plans, PFMEAs, and quality reports.
  • Feed customer requirements and lessons learned back into process, tooling, and inspection improvements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related technical field.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in battery manufacturing (cell/module/pack level).
  • 7+ years of experience in technical project management or NPI execution in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with battery manufacturing processes, from electrode (mixing, coating, calendering) through cell assembly, formation, testing, and pack assembly.
  • Familiarity with EVT/DVT/PVT/MPV/HVM stages and direct experience with equipment bring-up, layout planning, and line validation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with FMEA/PFMEA, DOE, control plans, and SPC/IQA/IPQC/OQC in battery production.
  • Customer-facing quality experience (8D, CAPA, RCCA, audits, PPAP/FAI).
  • Data analysis skills in JMP, Python, or similar, plus familiarity with MES and yield tracking.
  • Exposure to Lithium-Ion battery performance and reliability testing, qualification and certification

Success Metrics:

  • On-time NPI builds (EVT to MPV) with tooling and processes fully qualified.
  • Timely closure of open items and customer quality issues (8D/CAPA/RCCA) without recurrence, backed by clear, data-driven updates to leadership.
  • Seamless handoff from engineering to manufacturing for volume production ramp.
