About Our Client
Our client is a US-based travel marketplace that connects creators and community leaders with local tour operators worldwide. Its platform supports traveler bookings, payments, and payouts to business partners across multiple countries.
With a lean finance team, the company offers an opportunity to take ownership of key accounting operations and expand your responsibilities over time.
About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant or Senior Bookkeeper with experience in accounts payable, payment preparation, and account reconciliations.
You will initially focus on vendor bills, accounts payable, and monthly reconciliations. Following a structured training and handoff period, you will gradually take ownership of payment preparation for hosts and tour operators. The role may expand into accounts receivable and revenue reconciliations throughout 2027.
You will report to the Accounting Manager and collaborate closely with the VP of Finance. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on accounting, follows documented procedures, and identifies discrepancies before they become problems.
What You’ll Do
Accounts Payable
-
Process and code vendor bills and contractor payments in Ramp and NetSuite.
-
Reconcile Ramp and payment-platform activity with NetSuite each month.
-
Keep bank-feed transactions accurate and up to date.
-
Prepare and submit insurance manifests for upcoming trips.
Payment Operations
-
Prepare payment batches for hosts and tour operators, including international and multi-currency payments.
-
Reconcile prepaid balances monthly.
-
Respond professionally to routine payment inquiries using established guidelines.
-
Escalate discrepancies, payment exceptions, and unusual requests promptly.
-
Follow documented approval procedures to support accurate and timely payments.
Accounting & Month-End Support
-
Prepare payroll journal entries using reports from the payroll provider.
-
Support month-end close and annual audit activities by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
-
Maintain and update accounting procedures as processes evolve.
-
Gradually take on accounts receivable and revenue reconciliation responsibilities.
What We’re Looking For
-
3+ years of experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or staff accounting.
-
Hands-on experience preparing vendor payments and performing account reconciliations.
-
Experience using accounting software or an ERP system. NetSuite is strongly preferred, although QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage Intacct experience is also relevant.
-
Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate professionally with vendors and business partners.
-
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow-through.
-
Sound judgment when identifying discrepancies and escalating issues.
-
Ability to manage recurring deadlines and work independently within established processes.
Nice to Have
-
Experience with NetSuite vendor bills, payments, and bank reconciliations.
-
Experience preparing international or multi-currency payments.
-
Familiarity with Ramp or similar spend-management platforms.
-
An accounting degree or progress toward a relevant professional qualification.
-
Experience in travel, marketplace businesses, or environments with a high volume of payments.
Working Arrangements
-
Fully remote position for candidates based in Latin America.
-
Full-time commitment of 40 hours per week.
-
Core working hours overlapping with 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
-
A secure remote-work setup, including a dedicated work device, reliable internet, and multi-factor authentication.
-
A confidentiality agreement and background check are required before system access.
What Success Looks Like
-
First 30 days: Keep the accounts payable queue current, code and post bills within five business days, and maintain up-to-date bank feeds.
-
First 90 days: Manage accounts payable and monthly reconciliations independently while participating in payment-operations training.
-
By six months: Independently prepare accurate host and operator payment batches for review and approval, escalating unusual cases promptly.
