Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Charge RN VIII, you will serve as a vital clinical subject matter expert and behavioral role model within our Home Health & Hospice department at Saint Mary's Community Hospital. You will play a pivotal leadership role by facilitating high-performance teamwork, driving process improvement initiatives, and ensuring the delivery of patient-centered, cost-effective care. By acting as a mentor and coach, you will foster a supportive environment that aligns with our mission and values while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory standards and nursing quality excellence.
Every day you will oversee unit operations by managing staff schedules, monitoring timekeeping, and directing the daily workflow of your team. Your responsibilities will include conducting patient and physician rounding, providing on-the-job training for staff, and guiding peer interviewing processes to ensure top-tier talent acquisition. You will balance clinical flexibility with management duties, utilizing your critical thinking and conflict resolution skills to solve complex problems, manage departmental budgets, and ensure that all patient care is delivered according to established policies and clinical best practices.
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate strong leadership, delegation, and communication skills, alongside the physical ability to perform medium-level work. A commitment to professional excellence, ethical conduct, and continuous clinical improvement is essential to thrive in this collaborative nursing leadership position.
- Clinical Leadership & Oversight: Lead the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care during your shift. Act as a clinical subject matter expert, assess and evaluate nursing care, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards through patient and physician rounding.
- Team Mentorship & Coordination: Function as a mentor and coach to nursing staff. Coordinate daily work plans, facilitate ongoing problem-solving, conduct on-the-job training, and foster an environment of high performance, teamwork, and professional excellence.
- Operational & Resource Management: Support unit operations by assisting with scheduling, monitoring timekeeping/payroll, and effectively managing material and supply usage to ensure departmental goals and budgets are met.
- Process Improvement & Quality Outcomes: Facilitate continuous improvement efforts by utilizing data and departmental performance indicators to achieve positive clinical outcomes and high levels of patient and physician satisfaction.

- Graduate of a RN nursing program., upon hire
- Registered Nurse: NE, upon hire and
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 5 - months and
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 5 - months and
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program, within 6 - months
