Patient Services Specialist

Overview

This position is being offered as full-time OR part-time (daily 5 hour shifts).

 

The Patient Services Specialist performs routine front-end clinical operational activities, such as registering/checking in patients, cashiering, gathering and providing appropriate information, collecting co-pays, and answering the phones under the direction of more senior Care Center staff. This position will additionally schedule and confirm patient appointments as needed. The incumbent will interact with patients, families, clinicians, administrative staff, and third-party payers and provide customer service in a courteous and professional manner.

Responsibilities

Collect co-pays, provide receipts, and provide timely accounting for all collected cash and payments. Identify discrepancies and immediately work with the supervisor to resolve issues.

Obtain required information for both registration and financial documentation needed to complete the check-in process.

Answers phones, directs calls as needed, takes messages, returns calls to answer inquiries/questions, and provides accurate and timely follow-up.

Provide routine financial benefits.

Monitor Epic work que for tracking internal/external consults.

Schedule follow-up patient appointments and reschedule appointments as needed.

Under general supervision, perform advanced clerical or administrative tasks. Using varying methods, process transactions and select or devise the steps necessary to complete all assignments.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in customer service, administrative support, or other related area preferred.
