  • Maintain strong alignment with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Audit functions.
  • Own remediation of technology control gaps, audit findings, and regulatory issues within committed timelines.
  • Ensure technology risk is understood, measured, and transparently reported to senior governance forums.

    • Capacity, performance, and availability management
    • Resilience, continuity, and disaster recovery
  • Embed a culture of preventative engineering, learning from incidents, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure severe incidents and outages are professionally managed, thoroughly analysed, and acted upon.

Programme & Change Delivery

  • Provide executive leadership for complex change portfolios across trading, risk, and regulatory initiatives.
  • Ensure programmes are:
    • Well governed
    • Realistically planned
    • Delivered with minimal operational risk
  • Balance “Run the Bank” and “Change the Bank” priorities, ensuring the technology estate remains stable while evolving.
  • Hold delivery teams accountable for outcomes, not just activity.

Stakeholder Management & Business Partnership

  • Act as a trusted technology partner to senior Markets, Trading, and Risk stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with executive committees, boards, and external stakeholders on technology strategy, risk, and performance.
  • Represent technology confidently in senior regulatory and governance discussions.

Leadership & Culture

  • Build and lead high performing engineering, delivery, and operations teams across global locations.
  • Set clear expectations around engineering discipline, control ownership, and risk awareness.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote strong succession planning and talent development across Markets technology.

Service Management Recipient Oversight for Functionalised Technology

  • Act as the primary point of accountability for service management recipients associated with functionalised technology within the NatWest Markets Securities Inc. environment.
  • Ensure that services delivered to both internal and external stakeholders meet agreed service levels and quality standards.
  • Monitor service delivery performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs), driving continuous improvement where needed.
  • Facilitate regular service review meetings with recipients to capture feedback, address concerns, and identify optimisation opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to resolve service issues swiftly and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ensure clear, consistent communication and documentation of service management processes, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Support the integration of service management practices with ongoing technology functionalisation and innovation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Identify, escalate, and mitigate risks or challenges in service delivery, working with stakeholders to implement appropriate controls.

  • Demonstrated experience operating within robust technology governance and control frameworks.
  • Track record of improving operational stability and resilience at scale.
  • Experience leading large, complex technology change programmes.
  • Strong executive level communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience engaging with regulators and senior risk stakeholders.
  • Exposure to modern engineering practices (e.g. platform engineering, SRE, automation) applied pragmatically in regulated environments.
  • Experience managing legacy modernisation alongside business growth.
  • Prior accountability for global, follow the sun technology operations.

Personal Attributes

  • Highly credible with senior business, risk, and technology leaders.
  • Calm, decisive, and outcome focused under pressure.
  • Strong sense of ownership for both technology delivery and technology risk.
