Job Description:
This job is responsible for supporting the execution of substantive money laundering, economic sanctions and fraud compliance and operational risk practices. Key responsibilities include assisting Global Financial Crimes executives and managers with activities that support the identification, escalation and timely mitigation of compliance and operational risks in alignment with the Compliance and Operational Risk Management (CORM) Program, the Financial Crimes and Global Compliance - Enterprise Policies and the Enterprise Fraud Risk Management Standards.
The role supports Below-the-Threshold (BTT) surveillance activities by reviewing model-generated alert populations, recognizing financial crime typologies and patterns, and documenting clear, evidence-based decisions within defined review scope
Responsibilities:
- Supports the development and maintenance of financial crimes owned policies and standards, and reviews relevant Front Line Units/Control Functions-owned policies and standards to ensure that regulatory requirements and operational risks are appropriately addressed
- Assists in the production of independent financial crimes risk management reporting to Global Compliance & Operational Risk (GC&OR) Senior Leaders and FLU/CF Senior Leaders
- Assists in the monitoring of changes in regulations applicable to Global Financial Crimes, including advising business leaders, directing the appropriate areas to implement or amend policies, standards, procedures and/or processes to address regulatory requirements, and challenging the implementation plan as needed
- Contributes to risk coverage plans, executes independent risk monitoring, testing, and risk assessments
- Supports with escalating financial crimes related compliance and operational risks and issues to appropriate governance routines, management/board level committees
- Assists in the identification, aggregation, reporting, and escalation of the remediation and thematic analysis of FLU/CF-owned issues and control enhancements related to financial crimes
- Assists in the review of internal and external operational loss events, including the development of remediation plans to strengthen controls and providing oversight to ensure they are addressed appropriately
- Supports the review and analysis of BTT and other surveillance alert populations through typology recognition, pattern analysis, and risk-based decision-making.
- Applies established model scope, scenario guidance, procedures, and decision criteria to determine whether observed activity aligns with the intended surveillance coverage.
- Documents clear, concise, and supportable review rationales that connect observed activity and available evidence to the applicable financial crime risk indicators.
- Participates in training, calibration, quality control, and continuous improvement activities related to financial crime surveillance models, scenarios, typologies, and detection methodologies.
- Identifies recurring trends, knowledge gaps, process improvement opportunities, and potential control concerns, and escalates them through established channels.
- Adapts to changing surveillance priorities, model populations, and project-based assignments while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and appropriate scope discipline.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum years business and functional experience: 5 Years
- Degree required: Bachelor’s or equivalent experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Financial Services and/or related government entity
- Experience in anti-money laundering, financial crimes, fraud, compliance, surveillance, investigations, risk management, quality assurance, or a related analytical function is preferred.
- Experience reviewing customer activity, transactional behavior, model output, or other risk-based alerting information is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with financial crime typologies, surveillance concepts, or regulatory expectations is beneficial.
- Experience working in a quality-controlled, procedure-driven, or audit-sensitive environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new financial crime typologies, surveillance methodologies, systems, and processes.
- Demonstrated reliability, initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Candidates who demonstrate strong analytical thinking, intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new financial crime typologies and surveillance methodologies are encouraged to apply.
- Prior AML surveillance experience is beneficial but not required for individuals with transferable risk, compliance, fraud, investigative, or analytical experience.
