Job Summary
Join Micron's Smart Manufacturing and AI journey as a Data Scientist, where you will transform massive volumes of manufacturing and business data into predictive insights, intelligent solutions, and measurable business impact. In this role, you will partner with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to develop innovative data-driven solutions that improve yield, quality, efficiency, and operational excellence. Main Responsibilities
- Develop predictive models, machine learning solutions, and advanced analytics applications using large-scale manufacturing datasets.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover patterns, trends, and actionable insights.
- Extract, integrate, transform, cleanse, and validate data from multiple structured and unstructured data sources.
- Develop and deploy AI and agentic AI solutions to improve manufacturing and business outcomes.
- Design analytical approaches to solve complex business and manufacturing problems using statistical and machine learning techniques.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, UX teams, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven improvements.
- Translate analytical findings into actionable recommendations that drive operational efficiency and business value.
Other Responsibilities
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis, automation, and process optimization.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging data science, AI, and analytics technologies where appropriate.
- Communicate technical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects involving manufacturing systems, data platforms, and analytics solutions.
- Utilize AI-enabled tools and develop AI-driven solutions responsibly to improve efficiency, innovation, and business outcomes.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and advancements in machine learning, AI, and data science.
Minimum Required Qualifications / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Experience in statistical modeling, feature engineering, and machine learning techniques, including supervised, unsupervised, and semi-supervised learning.
- Experience extracting and analyzing data using SQL and other query languages.
- Experience applying data cleansing, outlier detection, and missing data handling techniques.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Experience in AI and agentic AI solution development.
Must Have Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Python and/or R programming.
- Strong knowledge of machine learning and statistical modeling techniques.
- SQL and database querying expertise.
- Experience developing AI and agentic AI solutions.
- Strong software development skills.
Must Have Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Strong learning agility and intellectual curiosity.
Highly Desirable / Preferred Skills or Experience
- Experience with PySpark, SparkR, or SparklyR.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience with Snowflake or other enterprise SQL database platforms.
- Experience with TensorFlow or similar machine learning frameworks.
- Experience with SSIS and ETL processes.
- Experience with JavaScript, Angular, Tableau, and/or Power BI.
- Experience working with time-series data, image analytics, semi-supervised learning, or datasets with frequently changing distributions.
- Experience working with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Experience in semiconductor manufacturing environments.
- Publications in conferences such as CVPR, NeurIPS, ICML, KDD, or similar.
- Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
