Security Operations Center (SOC)

RESPONSIBILITIES

The candidate will be a experienced SOC professional and approachable, provide support and guidance to the Global Incident Response team to ensure that all of Brightstar's security products are brought together for an effective and advanced security incident response program. Provides 3rd level escalation support to Security Operations and Incidents. Monitor and respond to critical application and system vulnerabilities. Participate in system investigation efforts within established protocols and legalities.

• Good Handson on various Security Tools, SIEM (like, Rapid 7, RSA, Splunk), any Email Security tool to handle phishing attacks, any Forensics investigation tool for incident investigations.
• Day-to-day, addresses real security incidents.
• Evaluates incidents identified by tier 1 analysts.
• Uses threat intelligence such as updated rules and indicators of compromise (IOCs) to pinpoint affected systems and the extent of the attack.
• Analyzes running processes and configs on affected systems.
• Carries out in-depth threat intelligence analysis to find the perpetrator, the type of attack, and the data or systems impacted.
• Creates and implements a strategy for containment and recovery.
• Threat and vulnerability analysis.
• Investigating, documenting, and reporting on any information security (InfoSec) issues as well as emerging trends.
• Analysis and response to previously unknown hardware and software vulnerabilities.
• Preparing disaster recovery plans.

SOC Analyst Skills

• Network defense – must have the ability to defend the network. Tasks include monitoring, discovering, and analyzing possible threats. A SOC analyst should have the skills needed to maintain secure network traffic and respond to suspicious activities. 
• Ethical hacking – must know how to detect threats and report vulnerabilities in a manner that ensures the organization remains protected from attacks. SOC analysts should know how to perform perpetration testing for systems, web applications, and networks to find vulnerabilities.
• Incident response – must be able to manage several effects of breaches in a manner that reduces the impact of breaches. SOC analysts should also be able to provide recommendations that can help prevent future security breaches.
• Computer forensics – must be familiar with computer forensic techniques that can help prevent cybercrime. Tasks include collecting, analyzing, and reporting security data. 
• Reverse engineering – must be able to read and understand the operation and performance parameters of software programs, and at a higher level of skill, should be able to reverse-engineer malware. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Required Bachelor´s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related subjects.
• Minimum of 7 years and maximum of 13 years of total work experience.
• Information Security certifications (CSA, GCIH, CompTIA Security +, CEH, OSCP, GIAC SOC, eCPPTv2)
• At least 5 years IT Infrastructure experience in a highly competitive, large corporate organization with solid knowledge of Information Systems, Networks & SDLC.
• At least 3 + years of relevant experience in Information Security operations or related.
• Good understanding over information security frameworks and industry regulations knowledge (NIST, ISO, CSC-20, PCI, SOX)
• Ability to think with a security mindset. The successful candidate has a strong IT background with in depth knowledge of several key security practice areas: application security; network security, infrastructure security.
• Solid working knowledge with security tools such as SIEM, NAC, Antivirus, File Integrity Management, Network & Application Firewalls, Web Proxy, Logging & Monitoring and DLP.
• Experience of Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems, databases and its security capabilities.
• Experience with Linux Security Tools and scripting/programing
• Ability to engage and influence team members as well as people external to the team
• Service orientation: A passion for maintaining the highest standards of quality and a service-oriented attitude
