Description
Position: Security Specialist - Armed
Department: Campus Police
Status: Full Time / 80 hours per pay period
Shift Hours: 12 Hour Shifts to Include Day or Night Shift, Also Weekends & Holidays
Location: Upper Valley Medical Center
POSITION SUMMARY
Security Specialist means any person’s whose primary duties are to protect person’s or property. Security Specialist means non-commissioned. Security Specialists are not authorized to exercise commissioned law enforcement actions. Responsible for investigations of criminal offenses that occur on facility property. Enforce facility rules and regulations. Responsible for conducting non-law enforcement information reports on hospital property. Maintain visibility to establish security presence within the medical centers and other assigned areas/facilities. Must be able to thrive in a complex environment and have a passion for public relations
EDUCATION
Minimum Level of Education Required: High School completion / GED
Preferred educational qualifications: Associate degree
Position specific testing requirement:
- Never charged or convicted with a disqualifying offense per Ohio Administrative Code 3701-13-05
- Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- OPOTA – Required Basic Security Guard Training. Including the state required 20-hours of firearms training
- Valid Ohio Driver's License Required
- Pass Substance/Drug Test Comply to Premier Health Care Required Immunizations
- Pass a Background Investigation
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION / REGISTRATION
- OPOTA- Required Basic Security Guard Training. Including, the state requires 20 hours of firearms Training
- Valid Ohio driver’s license required
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience
- Preferred Experience: 1-3 prior job-related work experience
Other Experience Requirements Upon Hire:
- Annual OPOTA Certified Firearms Qualification
- TASER Certification
- Active Shooter Response Training
- AVADE Training
- CPR/AED Certification
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
- Computer skills desirable
- This position requires an individual able to work under pressure with many interruptions while remaining calm and pleasant to the public and facility personnel
- Good written and oral communications and organizational skills. Some typing and computer experience required. Effective telephone skills.
