Your Role:

As a Farm Animal Sales Representative, you will create demand and deliver sales results by demonstrating the value of Elanco products and services to customers across Alberta and British Columbia. You will manage a territory focused primarily on monogastric species, including poultry and swine, with additional responsibility for ruminant customers, including dairy.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Transfer key messages and/or scientific information about Elanco portfolio of products and services/capabilities to Feed Channel partners, Veterinarians, Nutritionists, Producers and other key influencers in the industry.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency with all Elanco products and match product features/benefits with customer needs.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of customers, industry, market drivers, portfolio, and competitive environment; analyze and leverage information to accomplish sales objectives.
  • Leverage financial, institutional, technical, and marketing resources to develop solid business partnerships/relationships with customers and assist in growing their business.
  • Develop account plans and sales forecasts for the territory, implement sales cycle tactics and support the achievement of Elanco’s strategic goals.
  • Understand how customer challenges and priorities intersect with Elanco products.
  • Proactively seek feedback on product/service performance and advocate for customer internally. Ensure that Elanco is the customer’s preferred supplier based on portfolio, service and relationship. Provide customer and market insights to support bottom-up business planning and quarterly reviews.
  • Follow the principles of Customer Value Selling (CVS) and Strategic Account Management (SAM) to enable and/or reinforce customer relationships.
  • Conduct and facilitate both virtual and in-person customer and industry meetings, training sessions, seminars, and other value-added services.
  • Meet sales force excellence goals, including reporting of all calls, territory intelligence and customer information within Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Work seamlessly with internal functions to implement and execute marketing programs and sales and technical customer initiatives.
  • Report all Suspected Adverse Events and Product Complaints to the Pharmacovigilance Team and adhere to all Elanco policies and procedures.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific or technical field, such as Agricultural Science, Animal Health, or Business, or equivalent sales experience in Agricultural Science or Animal Health.
  • A minimum of 2 years of sales experience in Animal Health or Animal Nutrition, or 5 years of sales experience in Agricultural Science.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate scientific or technical information and present effectively to varied audiences.
  • Fluent English language skills, proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and a valid driver’s license.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):

  • Experience in livestock feed, premixes, or feed mill operations.
  • Experience selling products or services in the animal health or agricultural industries.
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and sales competency models.
  • Knowledge of monogastric or ruminant production systems.
  • Experience managing customers and accounts across a regional or multi-province territory.

Additional Information:

  • Travel: Approximately 60% field-based customer time; overnight travel is required. Occasional travel to the headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario, and national or international travel may also be required.
  • Location: Alberta preferred, or Vancouver/Fraser Valley, British Columbia.
  • Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada and eligible to travel to the United States.

Elanco Benefits and Perks:

​The expected base salary for this position ranges from $71,000 to $100,000. The actual base salary offered may vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications, including education and experience. Additionally, Elanco offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees. The compensation package is subject to change, and the actual base salary could be higher or lower than the range described above.
