Legal Support Supervisor I

The starting salary for this position will be based on the candidate’s qualifications at time of appointment.

Future Salary Increases 

** July 2027 – 3.93% increase to base pay (3% Across-the-Board + 0.93% Market Increase)

The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill vacancies in the Office of the District Attorney; however, this eligible list may also be used for future vacancies in other County departments.

 
The County of San Diego is currently accepting applications for Legal Support Supervisor I. Under general direction, incumbents are responsible for training, supervising, and evaluating the work of legal clerical staff, resolving legal clerical problems, and resolving difficult public contact situations.

Hiring Process and Timeline:
The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.

  • Job Offer and Background Process begins: Shortly after the interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
  • Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
  • Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. One (1) year of experience as a Legal Support Assistant III in the County of San Diego, OR,
  2. Two years of legal clerical or secretarial experience equivalent to a Legal Support Assistant III in an outside agency performing a variety of increasingly responsible and complex legal clerical work in a lead worker capacity providing technical guidance and training to legal clerical staff.

Condition of Employment

As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position.  Current County employees may be excluded from this process.


Evaluation
Qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in the employment and supplemental applications.  Please ensure all information is complete and accurate as the responses you provide on the supplemental application questionnaire will be reviewed using an automated evaluation system.  If you are successful in the initial screening process your application will be reviewed individually to confirm that the information you provided is accurate and qualifying.
