Description
At Franciscan, our Medical Assistants are critical for supporting a variety of clinical duties for multiple ambulatory clinics. This role assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care, scheduling appointments, executing physician orders for lab testing, entering information in electronic medical record system, and functions as a liaison between patients, coworkers, and providers.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Sign-on Bonus Available (Ask your Talent Acquisition Advisor about eligibility.)
Schedule: Three days a week (days vary) 8:00 AM - 4:30pm PM
Monday to Friday no weekends or holidays
Prepare examination and treatment areas for patient visits
Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures
Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Collect, process, and submit laboratory specimens and required documentation
Administer medications and immunizations under the supervision of a provider or registered nurse
Process prescriptions, refills, and sample medications as directed
Educate patients on treatments, medications, and follow-up care.
Assist providers with patient screenings and follow-up on test resultsCoordinate and expedite referrals to other healthcare providers.
Manage and route incoming phone callsMonitor medications for proper labeling and expiration dates
QUALIFICATIONS
Required High School Diploma/GED
Required Program Medical Assisting
In lieu of program, 5 years of medical assistant experience-Required
Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association- within 90 days of hire
For an MA, you must have one of the following certifications within 6 months of hire: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Allied Health or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Registry of Medical Assistants or Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Performance Specialists (NPS)
