Job Description & Summary:

The SAP ABAP MDG Technical Consultant will design, develop, customize, and support SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) solutions. The ideal candidate will blend strong Object-Oriented ABAP (OO-ABAP) programming with deep expertise in the SAP MDG framework. You will focus on standard and custom data domains—including Material, Business Partner (Customer/Vendor), and Financials—integrated with SAP S/4HANA. 

Responsibilities 

Technical Customisation & MDG Development 

  • Execute data model enhancements, extensions, and process modelling within SAP MDG. 

  • Customise standard MDG user interfaces using Web Dynpro ABAP and Floorplan Manager (FPM). 

  • Configure and implement validations, derivations, and complex rules via Business Rules Framework plus (BRFplus). 

  • Design, build, and configure Rule-Based Workflows (RBWF) to govern change requests. 

Integration & Data Replication 

  • Set up data replication mechanisms using the Data Replication Framework (DRF), ALE/IDOCs, and SOA Services. 

  • Build secure inbound/outbound interfaces between SAP MDG, S/4HANA, and external legacy systems. 

  • Support technical data conversion, initial data loads (DIF/DEF), and system cutover phases. 

Collaboration & Maintenance 

  • Translate business data requirements into high-quality technical design documents. 

  • Troubleshoot system errors, debug complex ABAP code, and perform performance tuning. 

  • Collaborate closely with functional consultants, data architects, and global IT delivery teams. 

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications 

Core SAP MDG Skills 

  • Framework Experience: Hands-on experience with SAP MDG versions 8.0, 9.0, or MDG on S/4HANA. 

  • Domains: Technical depth in Master Data domains like Material Master (MM), Business Partner (BP/CA/VA), and Financials (FI). 

  • Workflow: Custom rule-based workflow development and BADi implementations. [ 

Core ABAP Skills 

  • Advanced Object-Oriented ABAP (OO-ABAP) architecture programming. 

  • Web Dynpro ABAP and FPM (Floorplan Manager) configuration. 

  • Deep knowledge of IDOCs, RFCs, BAPIs, and OData services. 

Education & General Qualifications 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. 

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to handle client workshops. 

  • Analytic Skills: Problem-solving mindset with strong analytical debugging capabilities.  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Official SAP Certification in SAP Master Data Governance. 

  • Basic understanding of SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) or SAP CPI integration tools. 

  • Familiarity with SAP Information Steward or SAP Data Services (BODS) for data profiling
