Overview

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Downtown YMCA’s, the Capital Y Branch Manager provides overall leadership and operational oversight for the Capital YMCA branch. This role ensures excellence in customer/member service, operational consistency, and efficient use of resources at the branch level. The Branch Manager is directly responsible for supervising the customer service team, Kid’s Club, sport courts, and the monitoring of health & wellness equipment within the branch. Additionally, the Branch Manager collaborates with Aquatics to develop the pool schedule. The Branch Manager collaborates with Program Directors within the branch to ensure consistent execution of operational processes and alignment with YMCA of Superior California standards.

As the face of the Capital YMCA branch, the Branch Manager plays a vital role in fostering community relationships, engaging members, and building a welcoming and connected environment. The Branch Manager will be responsible for successful branch operations, supported by the Executive Director of Downtown YMCA’s. The Branch Manager’s leadership directly supports member retention, community involvement, and increased participation in the YMCA’s Annual Campaign, strengthening both the branch’s impact and its sustainability.

Responsibilities

Branch Leadership & Oversight

 

Operational Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management of branch operations.
  • Supervise and develop the customer service team, ensuring high levels of service delivery.
  • Work with the Pool Manager on lifeguard scheduling and staffing to maintain safe aquatic operations.
  • Oversee Kid’s Club operations, ensuring quality programming and staff engagement.
  • Coordinate scheduling of sport courts and ensure upkeep of health & wellness equipment.
  • Association-Wide Support: Provide support for association-wide initiatives and operational needs as assigned, including third-party billing, vendor and partner coordination, and other cross-functional responsibilities.

Program & Staff Support

  • Partner with Program Directors and Leads to support program delivery at the branch level.
  • Ensure consistency and quality across all member-facing operations within the branch.
  • Collaborate with Program Directors and Leads to ensure adequate supplies and resources are in place.
  • Support branch hiring, onboarding, and training processes in alignment with YMCA standards.

Customer Service & Community Engagement

  • Model excellent customer service and ensure consistent practices across the branch.
  • Respond to member and participant needs with professionalism and care.
  • Represent the YMCA in community and professional settings as appropriate.

Process & Standards Implementation

  • Implement association-wide Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at the branch level.
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA policies, safety standards, and operational guidelines.
  • Promote operational consistency while adapting to branch-specific needs

Team Development & Collaboration

  • Model and reinforce excellent customer service skills, both written and verbal.
  • Work with HR to ensure hiring and onboarding practices meet YMCA standards.
  • Set the standard for branch-level hiring of customer service teams, including Kids Club staff.
  • Partner with the Executive Director of Branches to ensure programmatic needs are met and supported through operational systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory or management role (preferably in customer service, operations, or recreational facility management).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple operational priorities.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to implement and uphold organizational standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of YMCA operations and programs preferred
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Physical Demands:

Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.

Posted Salary Range

USD $70,304.00 - USD $72,000.00 /Yr.
