As a Seasonal Animal Nutrition Center Attendant, you’ll be part of the behind-the-scenes team that helps support exceptional animal care through daily food preparation, delivery, inventory support, and sanitation. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with an interest in nutrition, animal science, or food preparation who enjoys staying active, working collaboratively, and contributing to a meaningful conservation-focused mission. This seasonal opportunity is anticipated to run from Fall 2026 through mid-April 2027.

The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week, with a typical shift of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Workdays will be determined based on operational needs.

 

Responsibilities

Animal Nutrition Support & Distribution

• Assists with the preparation and delivery of animal food to the animal departments.
• Assists in maintaining a fresh supply of animal food, supplements and bedding materials.
• Interfaces with all animal regions daily regarding changes in food orders or delivery schedule.

Operations, Sanitation & Department Support

• Maintains safe and sanitary conditions for all storage facilities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Posted schedule may be subject to change based on operational needs such as weather conditions, guest attendance and department needs.

Qualifications

Education, Experience & Certifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Pursuing or have completed a bachelor's degree in nutrition, animal science, or a related field.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record required.
• Prior experience in food prep preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to learn to differentiate between toxic and non-toxic plants is desired.
• Ability to drive oversize vehicles is desired.
• Able to organize and work to complete assignments in an efficient manner.
• Able to perform simple math calculations.
• Able to balance multiple assignments successfully.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to provide excellent guest service by positively interacting with guests and upholding the guest service standards required.
• Able to maintain courteous and helpful behavior.
• Able to maintain appropriate employee appearance (see uniform guidelines in the employee handbook).

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Able to perform heavy physical work for extended periods of time.
• Able to work in varied weather conditions (i.e. extreme heat, rain).
• Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
